them BSR shells are cheap and ideal, think they about 21 quid all ready to go

but I would look at lining it with gaffer tape or similar for winter, no idea what they made from but its not polycarb, they will shatter and snap, no idea how they will take a knock in the cold winter

Im about to order the painted associated one, £58

yeah the Associated bodies are not cheap, but I must say I've beat the hell out of my AE body this summer and it still looks really good !! Its worth lining the front wings and bumper edges with spare polycarb and shoe goo to proling its life ...

If anyone is after slightly more realistic and up to date bodyshell, then take a close look at the Vaterra Fiesta body.

Width is quoted as 296mm .. and wheelbase 333mm so check your chassis will fit first !!

But looks pretty close to most chassis sizes ..

Wheelspin and Modelsport have them in stock .. wing is extra mind !!

loads more pics here - http://www.horizonhobby.co.uk/autoon...rd-fiesta.html

I can confirm the Vattera fiesta shell fits the basher perfectly , there are a few of us running bashers in the Saundersfoot club with a few different shells and we are following Mendip on set up and having loads of fun in the process . Hopefully planning a visit sometime , I would attach some pics but I can never figure it out.

Thanks for confirming that !! Its nice to know it fits before spending out on these bodies .. they're not cheap !!

Whats the quality like ? most bodies seem to last quite well .. I'm running the Associated and I've beat the hell out of it but its still looking very tidy !!

Good to hear the rallycross word is spreading .. be great to have you guys over ...

Vaterra shell is good quality and it fits tight to the bumper so doesn't tend to crack , 205 shell is a Delta one it looks even better in the flesh also fits tight to the bumper . We have taken our inspiration from you Mendip guys it looked so much fun we gave it a go and its awesome ! We have just started running joker laps and the result is EVEN MORE FUN !!!! we run for 5 minutes with 2 jokers first race 4 in the second and 6 in the next 2 the resulting gap fluctuation is amazing but we all end up on the same lap by the end? You have really found something here that's both fun and really competitive and relatively cheap. Hope you don't mind me posting on here but I have the feeling we wont be the only club following your lead . Cheers Andrew.

Just to share a small tip. If your car started out like mine did as a buggy then refit the buggy shell with velcro. Rally shell over the top.

I have been out hammering mine round the carpark at lunch. Pouring rain.
Huge fun now the diffs are sorted.
S4 dont work as well in wet lol.
But inside the inner shell is dry and clean

Updated Winter Wonder race dates now confirmed...

These now make sure we don't clash with the other clubs in the area, so fingers crossed the hardcore racers are up for some winter fun

Awesome !!! can't wait to run rallycross over the winter

and for anyone wanting to run in rallycross this winter .. we'll be running the same spec tyre we have run all year which is the GRP S4 tyre available from RC Octane on site ...

Hopefully we'll also have some polycarbonate underbodies for sale to keep everything dry and cosy inside just in case we get a drop of rain !!!

what tyres for wet races??

waiting for new bodyshell, paint, some bumpers and bodymounts to arrive, 44T spur also on order to try and get the gearing back to sensible ratio

if anyone has an RC8e to convert to rally cross, then I am pretty sure that the mounts and bumpers from the associated qualifier pro rally will fit

will confirm soon as the parts arrive

For the moment, the GRP S4 is the tyre we'll be running wet or dry, same for all

I know there are wet tyres available from GRP, RC Octane has them in stock.

But we need to test them before we allow them to be used. What we don't want to get into, is tyres that wear out fast so that you need a new set every meeting, that would go against the principles of the class being cheap to run.

But we'll see, its all open for discussion

BTW .... first round of Rallycross is this weekend
