Jimmy,

Shame you went to watch sheep racing rather than come along to Falkirk

We are not getting nearly enough numbers. Its a shame but to be honest the competition is still there so you will have people to race and wont be bored. There is plenty of banter and it makes for a really enjoyable day.

I had an 18 year break before doing this years SORC and got back into it no problem. I dont think I took the motor out of the car all season, and only changed gearing once. Its such low maintenance on the electrics side that its now just purely about set up and driver comittment.
Anyone can go ballistic for 5 minutes, no dumping with lipo, so its still about who crashes less wins.

2wd was getting more numbers at a couple of rounds than 4wd.

120 drivers would be a pipe dream going by current levels, however the rounds were well run and commentated/refereed on by John Allan and the clubs so it can only serve to create a bit of mass going forward.

Go on, give it a go again, what about Gordon and Iain too?? Derek Kerr had it too easy in the Veterans class

Cheers.
David

I don't know about having it easy in the veterans, it was hard going every meeting. Be good to see a few of the "experienced" racers making a comeback, never know, the veterans could become the main class

Do your research Jimmy, pick any of the main cars, Durango, Associated, Tamiya, Kyosho, Scumacher (in no order), stick a speedo in that is relatively new (you may want to consider reverse until you get used to it again ), a 6.5 motor and lipo (they will all have more power than you can use). Mind your lipo sack and your pretty well sorted.

You see, one of things that I was quite good at was getting the cells and the motors right. It was quite difficult and if you get that bit right you were already ahead of the game. That factor has gone now (mostly) so it's all down to driving....hmmmm.

Just a wee note to you all. Ian Bell died a couple of years ago - heart attack mountain biking. Very sad indeed as he was such a great guy. I never laughed as much as when Iain got into full stride with one of his stories! Still in contact with Gillian and Tina.

I might see if Jimmie Mac fancies a go - doubt it though, he's another mountain biking devotee.

Jimmy, Notice that Derek didnt make any reference to Tomy as a current manufacturer!

Get back into it. We'd all love to pop down for another go on the BMX track!!

I'm gonna need some help here as I don't know who's who here!

Dave77 - David Logan
Big Chris - Chris Mitchell
Rodrego?
Mr. Ecclestone - Derek Kerr
GBH - George Haining

Any others feel free to make yourself known!

I'm all stoked up about this now and fully intend to win the Olympic Tenth Off-Road Gold medal in Rio in 4 years time! By that time I'll have re-launched the DMCC, built a new permanent track at Hetland and have a regular turn out of 100 drivers at every one of the 15 SORC rounds! Do-able? You bet!

Hi Jimmy

I don't know you but I heard the guys talking about you at the weekend.

Rodrego is Ryan Stirling who I'm sure you know.

I'm sure I'll meet you in good time.

Dave

Yup, know most of them!

Add...

Eric Brawley,
Gordon Gillan,
All the Balderstones
The Carlisle lot - Ron Paterson, Damian Doyle.
Stu Leckie (He could commute from Canada)

There'll be loads more - I wonder how many could be contacted and some arm twisting applied....

Dont forget Craig Black and Paul Mitchell.

However, Paul Mitchell is somewhere in Yorkshire, I think?

Great lads, Scott and Pietro are still good friends of mine. Also, Stan and Ian helped me so so much back in the day when I was starting off.

We're needing to get something like Reporting Scotland to do a wee ditty before next years champs start. Also local papers are usually champing at the bit to do wee articles on local clubs etc. That's how I am thinking I might regenerate some activity in this area. Might also see if any of the existing Carlisle guys want to re-adopt 1/10th Off Road.

Still actually haven't decided if I'm going to have a go at this again! Kinda looks like I might!

Can somebody tell me what the turnout was at the last round. 2WD & 4WD.

Jimmy
