SX2 Pro Layshaft Issue

Hi All, just wondered if somebody could help!, bit of a newbie to all this and have just purchased a used SX2 to get me started!; I've got an issue where the layshaft seems to be loose and not long enough to get the nut on the one end to hold it into place! cant get any drive whatsoever!.

Hope somebody understands what i'm talking about as Ive got the car and im gutted I can use it!.
