Speedo's just do it sometimes due to no fault of the racer. Is GTB brushed or brushless? Never seen or heard of a brushless releasing the magic smoke...

My Novak GTB speedo just went, with blue smoke, last year. It was just sitting there all plugged in waiting for the race to start.

I was told it was something to do with feedback from the servo but I dont know if this is true or not.

I have only heard of this before on two other GTB's.

I sent mine away to see if it could be fixed as it was outside the 120 day warranty and I was told no as it was too badly damaged.

My mate who bought his GTB from the same shop at the same time is still working and it hasnt missed a beat in 3 years.

How very true
eco27's make a good mess too
filled the hall full of white smoke and gunk everywhere
made the racing more realistic tho (caution fog slow down)

I had one that burst into flames! The speedo overheated melting the wire insulation which in turn then shorted the batterys out!

I went around a corner planted the throttle and the car started smoking badly, the marshall set it up on the stage. I took the bodyshell off and the car burst into flames so I ran outside with it and shook it till the batterys fell out (Cat3k so the battery straps were plastic!)

For the next few weeks somebody kept putting a fire extinguisher beside my pit table as a joke

I had mine go up after being switched on for 20 seconds a few weeks ago. Shane's also went up 2 weeks ago.
