Default NEW B4.1 'Factory Team' - SO IMPRESSED

Well a lot of people including everyone currently using a B4 would think the B4.1 id just a kit with a few new bits added in.
Well it isn't. So so many new parts and so many changes.
This is a small list of the changes and I will try and post some pics laters

Chassis - for sure of different material and more flex and additional strength up the front nose (although I have never had a problem there)

Comes with the all new V2 shocks and they build like a dream and very very smooth

Comes with the new slipper clutch and a great crystal clear glass type plastic gear cover - absolutely awesome - love this!

New front and rear shock towers although they have been out for a while

Comes with 30deg caster blocks that have 3 holes instead of 2 for adjustment

The ball studs are all new and adjustable from the top with allen driver

Now comes with blue thumb screws included in the kit

Carbon fibre battery brace that i think was included in the previous factory team but this also comes with split foams for fine battery adjustment front and rear

New squat rear plate

New style rear wishbones

New rear drive shafts like the B44 and locking ring for the pin to stay safe

New rear towing blocks outer and inner. The rear end is now FULLY adjustable for tow in and also a great combination of outer and inner tow in can be achieved

Included is the Proline body and 2 rear wings (taste on this one but look real nice)

Anyways, I am sure other items that I have forgotten but i have built the kit and has gone together like a dream. Even to the point of I didn't get the files out to make those little free up jobs. Just perfect and about time a manufacturer has made a kit that goes together easilly and freely and for sure doesn't make one feel that they need to buy anything.

Finally, I added up the differences and the value of them.
It would cost well over £220 to buy the changes so just buy the kit - Simples!!!
I know loads are being sold as we speak but I think Marc has some still www.m-k-racing.com
Please check with him though
I will post some pics later

Interesting, I've just ordered the V2 clutch and spring from Marc, but did't notice these bits:

Have they just added a new hole or have the original ones moved too?

The squat plate just sems to be more refined and has small shaped areas for the wishbones to clear and so on - also feels of different material that I am sure is designed for more grip - saying that unforunately no one has spoke to the states yet and therefore it's only what I have observed thus far
The rear wishones same as above and also fit the B44 - they seem to have extra clearance for the shafts
The front blocks have the original holes with additional hole.
Oh and there is no need to get different wishbones now as they are in the kit as standard - before people would change to plastic - now included.
I can't make a comment on performance of the new clutch as not yet run the car but like I originally said, a great build and all just looks spot on!

Might be but the point I was trying to make with all this, is that Associated have added everything in this kit that the team have tested, designed, thought of, run etc etc and known that works

Shocking Darren, never catch you doing that! Anyway, useful parts for people's X6's too wouldn't you agree?
Still at least he didn't start going on about where to buy some brass weight kits for it!

LOL (but I do get shot down if I do it)

The new parts from AE are about time too and long overdue in my opinion and despite how "marvelous" Tony makes the new car out to be (and I am sure it is) there will no doubt still be many people dissappointed that it is a B4.1 and not a B5 of some sort and evolution rather than revolution.....

Brass advert will follow........

isn't the B4.1 longer too, not by much, but wheelbase longer?

It has taken a lot of parts and design processes from the SC10.

There is no difference in length between the B4 and the B4.1

Built mine up last night and have to agree with Tony on this one! 'Ello Maaaaaaaaa!!
Easily the best kit I've built and from an engineering point of view everything just looks and feels so much better. Looking at the B4.1FT against my old B4 and struggling to find any parts that haven't been redesigned and upgraded in some way! (Going to need new spares now...)

Shocks feel so much better than previous ones as well as the obvious new cartridge.
Beefier front end with more adjustment
Loving the design and adjustability of the alu rear hubs.

This is a new kit as the devil is in the detail. Evolution of every part should add up to a much better overall package. Very impressed!

Interesting write up...lI have some questions though

I was told that the new B4.1FT is heavier than the old B4 is that true? I would also like to know if the tuning aftermarket parts fit the new model. More particular do Ghea pistons, bulkheads etc fit the new model?

Regards
Argi

Darren?
Is there a problem?
If there is then maybe you should give me a call rather than a public worldwide forum - 07876 664422 anytime or pm me or email tony@rudebits.net - Im not hard to get hold off

ps - Just so you're not confused - you CANNOT get hold of me at CML Distributions or MK Racing - I don't work there

Hi yah - The new car if anything is lighter or it sort of feels lighter. The plastic parts are so much better. Cleaner and just seem as if they are made from newer moulds or machinery.
Ghea pistons and bulkheads fit with no problems - mine has them.
Also all other aftermarket stuff should fit without any issues at all apart from the RudeBits rear corner weights. The older weights were designed for the older B4 chassis and don't fit - The rear corner weights are being adjusted and will fit both chassis soon!
