Default S12-1M rear hangers and inserts

Am I missing something here? When I try to assemble the rear of my car I can't get the rr hanger to line up with holes in chassis that the bolts go through, It's almost as of the hinge pins are too long.
I've double checked everything and my assembly follows the manual exactly ie correct length pins, correct spacer (2mm each side) correct toe/squat inserts seated fully home in the hangers.
I am totally stumped so any advice greatly appreciated.

We have 2 cars, and know several people who also have them, ive not heard or seen this issue before, are you using the correct part? are you sure you pushed the little plastic bit on the ends fully over?

Think your issue is the gearbox is still attached, youneed to loosen off all the other screws to fit it. I admit the build is a tight fit so can go a bit pear shaped if you try to speed things up by taking shortcuts.
