The Yankee Doodle dandy rc10 build
Ok here we go , it's my rc10 classic rebuild , an impulse buy as I wanted an original rc10 to race , impulse buys can be two things , your Best Buy or your worst , I think this was the latter ,on a plus side it's an early A stamped chassis .
Pics below of how it came to me and hence the title when you see the paint scheme . Progress will be slow , but I started it months ago so I have some pics , but hope to have it finished before the outdoor Season starts .

My main plan for the build is to keep it as original as possible but to make it reliable and to cope with brushless power .
First up was to find and fit a stealth transmission unit . My good friend Andrew supplied the parts . Chassis needs drilling to accept the transmission , also supplied by Andrew and an A stamped chassis too .

I found the best way to clean up the white nylon parts was , to put them in boiling hot water with a mix of fairly liquid and vanish and left them to soak over night , unfortunately I don't own a dish washer otherwise I'd have used that method .
They came up better than I thought .

Can't beat a sweet rear end .
This is as far as I've got now . I need to put spacers between the shock piston to limit the movement of the shock and some O rings to space out the drive shafts to make them sit centrally in the out drives .

Looks nice matey.
I think you have Andys white arms on the front of that and a nice Parma clear gear cover. Will be nice to see the finish.... |

good on yer matey
no it may never be a shelf queen but who gives a damn I have a similar rc 10 lurking in a box which may or may not get similar treatment if you wanna shelf queen buy a new one and save it . Don't get me wrong I also love looking at the painstakingly accurate rebuilds some guys have done and there impressive creations . I have one or two nice vintage cars and a lot awaiting some TLC but I doubt any will be worthy of "shelf queen" status I too have boughts some "dogs" but also been fortunate to buy other peoples pride and joy always remember we are only temporarily looking after them till someone else does !! regards and keep going Dave |
