It was a poor effort with the track without a doubt... not a national standard track thats for sure.

Everything normally used for Jumps etc had been thrown outside in a compound a month or so by the School so with the summer we had, it allsplit and fell apart .
On Saturday evening when this was all discovered was to late to get any replacements
As for the amount of carpet the hall could have been compleatly covered but the section chairman said he wanted more bare floor than Carpet

I thought the mix of carpet and floor was good.

I liked the challenge of the bumps on the race control corner that were voted off.

Sorry to hear about the last Minute disaster - had no idea about this at the meeting.

Better luck for next years national.

We checked everything was where it was left when we had confirmation we were hosting the meeting and there were 16 8x4 sheets
we intended to put in a banked curve plus several jumps but its all in the skip now its gonna a cost
a few quid to replace it all
I wasn't given the opportunity of speaking to the Drivers prior to Racing
then it completely went out of my head Sorry

Knighthawk - You ought to try the series, you might find you enjoy it, and the meetings themselves. Has to be more productive than insulting a series/meeting you never attended?

DanO - You've raced micro nationals long enough to know what kind of track and layout to expect at Dudley, and yet you still entered and attended? Cant be all that bad then eh?

Roy - You are one of the nicest, but also loudest and stubbornest people ive ever met; Im sure if you truely wanted to address the racers you would have done so

Atleast you keyboard warriors are keeping me busy whilst im off work sick.

Cris, in defense of DanO's comment, even you have to admit that the track was poor from an offroad features point of view, and did not meet the sections own regulations.

BUT....

It was not in keeping with the clubs normal track build standard (which I'm sure they will also admit themselves) which is why everyone booked in and turned up, and had they had their usual materials they most certainly would have fully complied with the regulations like they have always done previously...so the racers cannot be criticised for that!

The reason for the track design was not explained to us all at the time, and having seen it explained now, I can fully understand, and will congratulate Dudley for doing the best they could in the circumstances.

Despite my initial concerns with the track, I still thoroughly enjoyed the meeting. The layout and surface changes where spot on, and the racing good fun.

As a section would you turn up to a venue and tell them their track is not to spec and ask that they improve it...yes...

But...improvements can only be made where materials and resources are available to do so. And if they can't you have to make another decision, race on, or cancel the meeting after everyone has already arrived! In this case, the best decision was made in a less than ideal situation for the club, so the right decision was taken in my mind.

IMO the only improvement here would have been better communication between the club/section/racers on the day to explain the events and the reasoning behind the track design that we raced on!

We'd have all better understood at the time

Good work everyone, section, club and racers, good day days racing...now lets not bicker pointlessly about it and look forward to the next one!

Chris,

In all honesty nobody knew about the host clubs problems and until now I'd not seem your reply, to the club please accept my apologies for the harsh comment if it was taken wrong, I just thought a National should have more features.

As for my comments, keyboard warrior not really chap as I race to, in 10th 2/4wd Electric, 8th Nitro and even Micro's ( I also pay/subscribe to the ukmrc forum ). In fact I'll see you this Sunday at Swansea racing.
