Default adobe illustrator/multiple colour vinyl

Hi,

Hope some one can help i am new to adobe illustrator / vinyl cutting however if i want to make a decal of three colour vinyl and create it in illustrator over three separate layers how do i get marks to line up all vinyl to recreate picture ?.

i have watched you tube clips and understand how to put all back together apart from putting the marks on in the first place to line it all up.

i have tried making a template with multiple layers with all marks in same place then saving as template , please if any one knows easier way ?? help would be much appreciated.

also how do you split down a vector image to cut various colour vinyl out ?

thanks in advance

by eye? use two or three dots to line up then discard them.
not sure what yer making, ive loads of experience with layering vinyl, but depending what it is / what its for, why not get it printed?
its a load easier -and i can print it as my layered vinyl stuff gathers dust.

Hi thanks for reply
I have to ability to print the desing on to printable vinyl but some times loses colour ,
Wanted to create layered designs to keep max colour from different vinyl .
On printable vinyl an after design created do you put some thing over like clear sheet to keep from getting damaged ?

It's big learning curve but very interesting lol

You can lose colour because it's printing cmyk - certanly. You'll never get a vivid flourescent orange printed for instance. Where you can use any type of vinyls mixed together.

Yes - printed stuff is laminated with clear vinyl.
