Default 2013 BRCA SE 2WD Regional Championship RD3 - Sunday 14 July - Plough Raceway

Apologies for lateness of the 'official' posting but I'm sure you were all aware of this in the calendar anyway.

As the title says, Round 3 (of 4) of the 2013 SE 2WD Regional Off-road Championships. As per usual there will also be an Open class to cater for drivers from outside the SE Region and those wishing to run a 4WD around. There will also be provision for Round 3 of the 'unofficial' SE Regional separate SCT & Stadium Truck Championships for 2WD (ONLY!) electric trucks.

To be held at Plough Raceway off-road facility on Sunday 14 July 2013.

Track WILL NOT open until approx. 08:30 for practice so please DO NOT arrive too early! The track is on private land at the rear of The Plough Inn, Leigh who we do not want upset by excessive early noise, thank you!

NB - PLOUGH RACEWAY DO HAVE THEIR OWN TIMING EQUIPMENT, HOWEVER THEIR VERSION DOES NOT SUPPORT PERSONAL TRANSPONDERS AND DRIVERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO USE THE CLUBS HAND-OUT TRANSPONDERS SO PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE THE NECESSARY MOUNTING HOLE FOR THIS UNIT!

See you all there, (maybe!), don't forget FREE entry for ALL Juniors, U13's and U16's.

Oh and don't forget your BRCA Membership details please, Membership application forms will be available for non-members to join on the day!

The Plough is a delightful, 16th-century country pub, which enjoys a quiet location set back from the main road, yet within easy reach of the main transport links. The quaint building is of a traditional, local style with very ornate, original window-panes. There is a well-maintained, private garden outside which is great for al fresco drinking and eating in the summer!!

NB - PLEASE, NO BARBECUE'S or OPEN FIRES, ALSO SMOKERS PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE CIGARETTE ENDS, IF THERE IS A RISK OF FIRE HERE PLEASE DO NOT BE THE ONE TO START ONE! AND YES EVEN WITH THE WEATHER WE HAVE BEEN HAVING OF LATE!

Address: Leigh Road, Hildenborough, Nr. Tonbridge, Kent TN11 9AJ

Located directly on the B245, just a couple of miles northwest of the centre of Tonbridge

How to find the Plough pub: - If you are coming from Tonbridge, head for Hildenborough (B245). You will see Leigh & Penshurst signposted on the left hand side opposite the Flying Dutchman pub. Take this left turn (once on this road DO NOT take the first right signpost for Leigh), keep going straight ahead. Under railway bridge the road will narrow but keep going. The road can be a bit narrow and windy. There is a sharp bend to the right with another lane going straight signposted for the Powder Mills - follow the road to the right and shortly after this the Plough. The car park entrance is just before the pub.
If you're coming from north of Sevenoaks along A21, take exit off A21 for Sevenoaks and Hildenborough and head for Hildenborough (B245). You will eventually (about 2 or 3 miles down that road) see the Flying Dutchman on the left with a road off to the right signposted Leigh/Penshurst. NOTE: There is a road to the right before this one which is signposted for Leigh and Penshurst but please make sure you keep going until you see the Flying Dutchman.

Just had a conversation with the lead of the Plough Raceway team!

We just want to re-iterate, due to the extreme weather we are experiencing and the consequential dryness of the track and the surrounding pitting area and as detailed in the original post.....

PLEASE, NO BARBECUE'S or OPEN FIRES, ALSO SMOKERS PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE CIGARETTE ENDS, THERE IS A RISK OF FIRE HERE SO PLEASE DO NOT BE THE ONE TO START ONE!

BIG thanks to the Plough Raceway team for their efforts leading up to todays events and for today itself, top job by all involved and new record run time for a return trip to Farnborough for our RD Simon!

A MASSIVE personal thanks to Dave Church, David Poulter and John Painter for their invaluable support and assistance with Refereeing and the like, personally I think it made such a difference to the smooth running, good nature and improved standards of all participants and personally made my day so much more enjoyable and it's fair to say easier.
Thanks lads, very much appreciated, lets hope we can now keep this theme going at future events with some others stepping up to the mark, these three have shown that it is both possible to be key 'officials' whilst at the same time still being able to race and compete at the very sharp end of the event.
Let's see if others can match their tremendous efforts.

As you may be able to tell, I'm stoked about todays event and personally think, with all things considered. it may have been one of the best Regionals that we've had in recent years: a great team; invaluable support; a developing track; close and fair racing and much better performances by all drivers! Oh, and as usual, great bacon sticks!
So please, please, please lets see if we can continue in this vein into all our future events!

Thanks Steve. It was a great day at Plough. An ever changing track and one challenging even the best to keep a car pointing the right way.

I havent actually refreed that many events, but felt that yesterday the driving standard was really good. Drivers all gave each other the courtesy needed to ensure we all had a good run at making a fast time, and then having good finals each. It's amazing how easilly achieved it is, but how much of a very big and positive impact it has on a days racing.

Very much looking forward to the final rounds, all be it a tad sad as I have really enjoyed my first off-road season. It's been quite a ride going from the tarmac touring scene over to off-road again, but it has been a really good one.

Thanks again to Plough, Simon and Steve for a great day out

See you all at Barham !

Just to echo Steve and John's comments.
Great job by all at the Plough yesterday. Big up to Dave Church, Dave Poulter and John for their refereeing duties and to Simon, Steve A et al for running the event.

Had a great day out. The level of driving was brilliant - and no mean feat considering that as the track developed, the grip disappeared and it got harder to just keep the 2WD cars pointing in the right direction.

The races I had with Kyle, Ed and Chris Delves were fantastic - mutual respect by all on track and a healthy regard for the lack of traction. Some great driving guys.

Thanks guys

I do think the driving standards were way above the normal! The standards had deteriorated recently, but looks like we have found a way to keep standards high, and hopefully this will continue at the last rounds, hopefully we can get a few more people to help out!

Many thanks to all involved in the running of the meeting.
