Thomas,
I'm a bit worried about the motor heat issues I keep reading about on the SC18 forums (rctech.net) but... I think I'll be getting one anyway. Haha.

The "motor heat issue" so many seem to be having appears to be directly as a result of trying to get away with running a belt-driven car (with its higher drag) off that puny stock motor, along with not taking the time to go through the build and making sure everything turns smoothly and the gearmesh is good....all the guys that have dropped in a BL system (regardless of whether it's a 20mm or 28mm motor) seem to have no troubles at all.

Hmm, might need to get a Mongoose. My 5200kv hobbywing with 18A esc was getting hot even in the old RC18B. Any other recommendations besides the Mongoose? I'd prefer something smaller if I could get away with it.

Looks all nice and clean so far Thomas, and I see a couple of CF towers. Can't wait for the rest of your build.

Don't know why you're putting the 8.5 in there. I've got a 10.5 in mine and it's plenty enough juice, might even put the 13.5 in it, and the viable pinion opions aren't as limited.

You know, and I've been thinking this for a while, the original rc18 buggy bodyshell would look amazing with some tweaks to look like an original Battlestar Galactica Viper, in fact the engine could be cut-outs for air vents.

Looks like the maiden voyage went well, it runs , now it's time for some proper rear tires (bowties) - and/or seeing how it gets along on the track.
