Default My Cat2k - Race Ready....

Well it was finally ready late Saturday only for it to stay this way due to the weather!

I must have tried about 8 different combinations of Oil's and Piston's before getting it to "feel" about right, ended up with Losi Natural pistons and 35 & 30 oil which seemed ok - hopefully i'll find out one day!

So it's a 2000EC but with a 3K shell, Associated Shocks, Brushless etc so a bit of a hybrid!

Looks good Nick!

I am doing the same thing, although I think I will end up with Losi Shocks and shafts with a 98 Carbon chassis, as it will let me fit the brushless in much easier!

I will post some pics when mine is getting ready.

Is that a 5.5 Nick, and what gearing will you be running it on. I haven't got a clue where to start!

It is a 5.5 but i reckon you need to run something silly like a 15t/95 with brushless but the smallest i had was a 17 so i was going to try it......

They were my "High Vis" options, a bit like in the Football when they swap it for a bright one

Seriously though if i didn't have 40 sets of BB Yellow wheels i wouldn't run them, but it's cheaper this way

Haha, on the B4 i'd never run Yellow ;-)

Thanks for that though dude, i was quite happy with how it came out - yeah i did the shell on Saturday, did one for Trish's D4 too which he was happy with, i've still only done 4 now but they're getting neater each time

I will be running a 6.5 Sintered novak, so should be able to gear up 2-3 teeth I would imagine.

Cheers
Mark

Reading the Manual they suggest something like a 17/95 with an 11T so with Brushless and 4200's etc i would guess it'd be around the same? I'd guess you'd normally gear down 2/3 for brushless but due to the cells you can probably go back up another 2/3 to get back to around the same.... The manual was written for the Cat when we were probably running 2000's

is it a sintered or not Nick? sintereds are geared a few teeth higher than non-sintered as well.

Yeah it's sintered, i'm just going by what the likes of Novak usually suggest where say an 11T is similar to a 5.5/6.5 they suggest slightly lower gearing i believe....

I'm sure it'll be ok - or i'll at least find a way to make it work!

Thats pretty low gearing Nick. I agree with the others in that you will be able to gear up a bit.

Might be worth trying to compare some overall ratio's with other 4wd cars.

Not sure on what the Cat is, but you could probably find out.

HTH

Yeah i've got an 89 spur on at the moment just because it was on the car, so i've put a 17t pinion on and will see how it runs this weekend hopefully, as long as the temp is ok and it lasts a good 6 mins or so i'll be happy, i'll keep checking it but you can usually tell straight away if the gearing's wrong...

Is the slipper clutch (it does have one doesn't it?) going to handle the extra wellie of a modern system?

Elliott.
