the other reason that centros are being sold is maybe like me they want to be able to buy all the spares from one manufacturer rather than certain bits from this kit and other bits from another kit and since the centro came out there are alot more options in buying one complete kit from a maufacturer that they like so less hassle getting spares.

Actually, the sv2 is an evolution of the sv, which came out in 2010, so the centro is the copy

The same brand for both 2wd and 4wd hits home for me. Where i live it is basically AE only, support is ridiculously good for sure... and random losi 22's. Shops stock only 22 parts.. Its all indoors so B4.1's are useless and the losi xx4 is not so easy to get parts quickly for it, so I am stuck. I would love to run the RB6 and Sp but kyosho is very hard to get here and insanely expensive...

So here is hoping to the AE gods that they bring out a mid motored 2wd very soon.

lol...I love a good debate!

So remind me which features of the sv the centro copied?

From memory...SV had a carbon chassis, top deck and stick pack lipo...

The Centro has a aluminuim chassis, no top deck and saddle lipo...and a gearbox/battery brace.

The SV2 has...oh...an aluminum chassis...oh...a saddle pack lipo....oh a gearbox/battery brace...urr....still has it's top deck...but they had to keep something different...which to be honest...it'll help keep it straight anyway, so I'll give it that as a benefit they kept as their own!

I personally would dislike to see a stand alone new car from AE, either mid or rear, that isnt interchangeable. I dont think it is particularly necessary to own 2 different config cars anymore, we have the technology so to speak ..

I would like to see a molded chassis, not necessarily the Losi, Durango or Kyosho way with alloy, but in reality, it seems to be the trend right now.
It was actually designed for the uk ae drivers to have a mid motor and was an evo of the s2 by atomic carbon

It has wheels
All I'm saying is a car that has an aluminium chassis and saddles like 90% of todays 1/10 off roaders doesn't deserved to be called a copy.

LOL...fair enough...

Your right though, that is very much the case now, but when Centro first arrived it wasn't so much....metal/aliminium was totally the norm for chassis in 1/8th prior to that...which is possibly also another influence.

And anyway, they say duplication is the highest form of flattery...so it's not even a bad thing really.

What ever drove that change, it was a reaction to other manufacturers that got the top Schumacher guys closer to the AE guys the following year at the nats, whereas the AE boys were really flying out on their own almost the year Centro first hit.

Which is why it's all fun and interesting!

For AE, taking a smaller brands development, and making it a mass market design is something they've done before...think about where the B44 came from originally...JConcepts BJ4

The B5 may follow that same process...by taking Atomic Carbon and CML's developments of their products and making it their own...

Interesting...

So are CML/AE going to put out another B4.1 conversion, Centro "C4.2" kit with a composite tub chassis, shock tower, and new composite moulded gearbox casing similar to that cad drawing that was floating about a while ago? Essentially that's what the centro is missing, and it will bring it inline with any current and future B4.2. Regular rear motor B4.1/B4.2 for clay/low grip, C4.2 for high grip astro/euro/carpet tracks.

???

3 of these new cars at TORCH yesterday. They all beat the track record.

Lexan chassis was a surprise and new skinny shocks....

I saw one at Torquay too the other day- very interesting. Centrally captured front and rear self righting modules on a gyro system- so if you flip it it automatically flips inside out and carries on.
Also the wing system is awesome- it detects turbulence from another car passing and out flips machine guns and grenade launchers- it's a proper weapon.
It's gonna be called a b4.1 centrotransformer.
Can't wait to see the 4wd
