Few general questions. Hopefully returning to racing!
Its been a while since i was racing due to personal circumstances (about 3 and half years roughly,) but will hopefully be starting back again. The Mrs has given the go ahead, including the purchase of a new kit. I currently own a losi 22 2.0 and also a 1.0, and im fully aware these aren't competitive these days.
Ill start on the questions then 1- Is 2wd the most popular class still? 2- Which kits are the ones i should be looking at? taking everything into account that goes with long term ownership / racing 3-Is the turnout of racers at similar levels as they were 3 years ago? (i remember oople being far busier than it currently seems to be) 4- has there been any new great advances in tech? or will my current radio, brushless and lipo gear be fine to re-use? 5-Do people still use 6.5t - 8.5t motors mainly? or has it gone down the different spec classes like over the pond? Hi! Welcome back!
1 Obviously check your local club but for us (1066 Racing, indoors, EOS carpet etc) 2WD is by far most popular class 2 again check local club for help woth setup and spares but AE B6, Yokomo YZ2 are most popular at our club, followed by Losi and Xray 2WD's, latest version of all the above is best of you can stretch to it. IMHO AE B6 is probably cheapest to buy/run long term, but build quality not as good as xray or yokomo. (So much so that I've bought an xray 4WD when I'm a B6 owner for 2WD) 3 turnout for us is growing but we're a new club and are very lucky to have great facilities, whcih helps. I'd say generslly its similar to 3 years ago, though i don't think BRCA regional turnout is great...again, my opinion. Oople is quieter; a lot more chat in the various facebook grouos which is a shame as i hate FB! But its essential and a good tool. Search FB for your chosen chassis and youll find a group or two. 4 all old gear will be fine, I'd be tempted by new lipos, capacity vs size is better now...4500 plenty for any class. 5 2WD lots of 7.5, some 6.5. 4WD 5.5 - 6.5. Thanks for the reply. just looking through the tinterweb now at whats available. Im sure kits werent that expensive back then!
My local club would be mansfield and rhr (when the weather comes back). It looks like 4wd is in favour at mansfield from looking at some timing sheets. Will be nice to see some old faces again and catch up on stuff. Whats popular in the 4wd class? |

things haven't moved that far in three years !!!
all the big players are still there and leading the way Schumacher xray yokomo AE, Losi and kyosho .the only recent big casualty is Durango New player in 4wd is Tekno and recent results are impressive if you still have your old gear get I t out and play !!! then look round to see what takes your fancy yokomo released new car for worlds, Schumacher had a proto type in 4wd so s/hand bargains may be coming up see you soon, book in for worksop indoors tim get your thumbs going again dave and mitch fidd |

im going to nip in to worksop this weekend dave and have a wander round. Ill hopefully have a buggy ready for the new year, which is fine because i dont have any brca insurance for this year anyway.

One obvious omission from the list of cars banging round tracks currently, is the PR Racing range.
This brand has arrived properly in the last couple of years and has proven very popular. Imported and backed by Kev Lee at Inside Line, they are brilliant value, super quality and super quick. Spares are plentiful and great value too. Check them out! Jimmy
