Default Mythical Velcro?..what's the best?..

Some help needed!..I'm trying to find out what Velcro people use?..all my stuff is useless,it always comes away from the chassis and never stays on bodyshells..but if I buy a second hand car the Velcro inside is welded to the chassis and the stuff on the shell never comes off...where do you find this mythical stuff!..I've never been able to find it in my local model shop and he says it's also no good( so why stock it! ).

Do you degrease the chassis and bodyshell before applying the tape? And if so, how do you do that?

I've always bought heavy duty velcro off ebay...

Cleaning the surfaces, and sticking it on well before you need it so the adhesive has chance to properly cure is another good bit of advice.

use acetone to clean and let dry naturally doesn't take long first.

You can get proper Velcro brand Velcro from eBay at a decent price, clean chassis with a bit of nail varnish remover etc, let it dry, you can heat up the surface/Velcro with a hair dryer too to get the adhesive really sticky too and as others have said leave it a good while to cure before use - the cheap crap really is cheap crap!

B&q Velcro brand sold by meter, most important is to make sure what your sticking it to is clean and grease free.

Look at 3M Dual Lock. It's better than velcro imo, easier to attach as it doesn't stick to the other surface instantly, it requires you to push the two sides together to lock. Make sure its the Low Profile stuff though else it it'll be too thick.

+1 on the 3m stuff, not cheap mind you..!

I have used sticky back velcro on all my cars/buggies, planes n boats and have yet to find one that doesnt work.. wilkos, b&q, local dressmakers, ebay everywhere... so I'd deffo look at your application technique...

Not 100% sure on the model numbers. I assume theres not massive differences between all the 'low profile' stuff, possibly just colour.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3M-Dual-Lo...item3a652353ad

£5 gets you 1m (technically 0.5m)
