B44.2 Wing Mount Mod.
Has anyone done the mod which replaces the body clips with screws and washers to hold the wing? How is it done and what size screws and washers are used?
Cheers. |

If you cut off the uprights that normally the pin fits through. then drill a 3mm hole in the same area through the flat part where the upright used to be. you should already have the holes in the wing. then use m3 or similar bolts with a washer to go through the wing into the wing mount and then use a m3 locking nut to clamp it all together.

Hi everybody,
Is it possible having a pic of this mod? It doesn't seem as the nut will have a clean, flat location to lean against. Is the mod sturdy enough or it weakens the mount? I really struggle understanding why AE did not put a decent wing mount in the B44.3; nowadays all quality kits use screw mounts!

Thanks! I see I already asked for and got pics.
Please forgive me, I'm old.. So you deem it is worth doing? I see that some plastic was removed from the bottom of the mount to allow the nut to seat better..

Its well worth it. I did it to my b44.1 and b5m, I wish associated would learn that screws are just better.

Is this a worthwhile thing to do to the b5m? What are the advantages? Does it reduce the durability of the wing mount? Sorry for all the questions quite new to the hobby still learning.

makes life easier and less likely to fall off with body screws. its better overall in my option.
