Default How's this for an idea!

Lately I've noticed that quite a lot of clubs are running team events. Teams within the club.

So how about we run some sort of team event?? Just a change front the normal Sunday meet. It would bee good for the club, and would bring everyone closer together!

Maybe a full day team endurance or something like? (11:00 - 4:00)

Thoughts people ???

With teams there would be no choice but to have loads of Banter!

The club has quite a few new members, it would be good to get them involved with the older members.

Great idea,we can ask around on sunday an see whos up for it,maybe put a notice up asking people to put name down, when everybodys name is down i think it would be fair to pick names (out of the hat) in to teams, how many teams? get some really silly names for the teams, ie Lolliepop girls racing team, something different!!

Cheerleading lollipop girls in mini skirts with white FMBs,
Think its a great idea Matt and maybe a Team Trophy at the end of the season, something to fight for?

Ill team up with Matt, he can be my apprentice and he can learn from the master.

teams of two would make a decentish number of teams, there could be a teams table.

cant make it this sunday though im booked for a train to scotland in the afternoon.

Keighley have run a few endurance meets, and with them no longer around we could pick up the baton I guess. Its been suggested before but not taken up - though the club had a very different membership then.

That said, having done some, I don't think its worth making the races too long. We did 4 hours, and frankly it was a bit too much - I reckon 2 is good enough to get some team action going.

Banter is however surprisingly limited. With 5 man teams, we found that 1 person is always driving, 1 marshaling, 1 ready to go out driving (immediately in case the one driving has a problem), 1 just come off and recharging/repairing etc leaves just one person not busy all the time......

Teams are pointless if you pick them though. They need to be balanced or it will just be a walkover.

Like Maddy said, We need to pick random teams. That's the most fair way to do it. I think it may even bring more people to the club.

If people fancy it i'm happy to organize it, I will speak to Roger and a few other guys on Sunday just to double check it ok to go ahead! but i can't see there being an issue.

We should do it with a few weeks notice to so we can get the maximum turnout!

1 car teams (easier on race control - 1 transponder) mean a potentially destroyed car.
Teams running their own cars (harder work for race control) means racers can use their own cars and you can run longer races without fear of destroying them.

Which you thinking of?

Teeside used to run an endurance of 6 hours with teams of 8 using multiple cars per team . It was one of the best events I've ever been to.

By the way...

If you want anyone other than club members to turn up you need months of planning and notice or no-one will be there!

As said by matt (bringing members closer together) Team talk would be better as a newbie might be a little scared to ask someone how to set up his/her car.

I was thinking running multiple cars, but each team gets assigned a club transponder for the day so it can easily be changed between cars.

Time wise it would be down to what people want to do. I would say 6-8 hours would be ideal. With teams of 5-6 (Depending on numbers)

been to the club for the last 5 or 6 club meetings, this is a good idea.
seems that 30-40 racers turn up
which would make 1 truck, 1 under 16, 1 4wd, 2 2wd in each team??
so 5 or 6 teams spread over 6 heats?? instead of stressful endurance racing??

teesside still do this col

they tend to only use one transponder per team so makes it ok on race control ,it has to be swapped between cars on the change over

as for picking the teams its usually team captains (usually juniors) take turns to pick a team member one at a time, bit llike how football teams were picked @ school.
