The new MI4LP "Race"
Great car and can be had on a certain auction site for £190 delivered.
Easily upgraded to full Pro spec if you wanted to.

MI4LP "Race" what's the difference except from the chassis material between this and the better version ? **EDIT** 100% no to that car just read it has plastic driveshafts Mi3/3.5 if it's a Schumacher me thinks

No problem with Photon spares, the UK distributor keeps them all in stock.

I think you are selling yourself short with your £250 budget. For the sake of an extra 50-and-a-bit quid you can get yourself a current full-race car, rather than a dated, semi-race car like those you have listed.

The MY07 is Japanese only, although there is another version that was available worldwide.

JT, you ever thought about a 12th?? 12R5.1 is about £200, spares are cheap, tyres are cheap, shells are cheap, electrics are cheap, racing is ace!!

Tamworth do 12th on a Saturday, Worcester do 12th on a Friday and I think that Swindon might still do 12th?

Default tc

As I see it, you've allready done your shortlist, but just let me update that a little

Mi4 - this has a new lipo chassis for it
Xray T3 - brand new, but they're sold pretty much as soon as the shops take delivery, and they tend to release a new spec version every single year
TC5R - the oldest of the three, but not by much. It's the car I drive and can highly recommend it, as with all three, it's getting the setup right as they're all tending to look alike now, apart from the schumacher which has some weird motor clamping thing in place which I really don't like the look of, but others love.

The xray is going to be the more expensive, the Mi4 comes prebuilt or as a kit, the TC5R comes as a kit, and although associated normally use imperial measurements, ever since releasing the 5, they've used measurements that match up with the metric equivalents.

Hope this helps

Next - bodyshells, which is a lot easier choice, Stratus 3.0, Mazda Speed 6 or the 9R, all protoform shells, just choose the prettiest one.

12th sounds good but what I'd really love to do is 10th pan car but they've just not hit off for some reason and the ones I have seen have only gone well indoors. Come summer I have one of the best outdoor tracks in the country just down the road so it would be a shame not to pay it a visit
JT,

Go on Raceshat and have a read of the WGT10 threads on there. Lots of useful info about 10th pan outdoors.

TB fella, I doubt youd feel much of a difference between any of the chassis you've mentioned above. I know I wouldnt, and id certainly give you a race at Kemble to find out whos faster
You can get spares for all chassis from Microtech I think, or Clive for Schumacher and AE.

I would go for a Xray, The t3 is very good but i would get either a 008 or 009 if you like the orange. The T3 is very well built, like all Xrays but for the money £320 pound or so, its not worth it. They have changed a few things over the 008/009. You can get a 008 for about £150 or so now used, i would go for that.

I have only ever run Xrays and i know they are very well built, never brake and once you have a good setup they really go and handle well like my 008 at the moment is.

Thats my opinion anyway

Default mi4lp race

If the plastic driveshafts are worrying you about the mi4lp race edition, then buy the kit and upgrade the driveshafts. its still inside your budget and you get a lot of car for the money.

I'd choose that option over any of your other "budget" racers anyday. It's a current spec drivetrain, suspension geometry, chassis layout, lipo friendly, easy to get parts for, and simple upgrade path to the full Pro spec.

It's an easy choice.
