Default Durango DEX410R announced - and DEX410 Price

Team Durango have at long last announced the price for the long-long-awaited 'Durango' electric buggy, the DEX410. At the same time, and possibly to cushion the blow at the high price of that car in this economic climate, a 'sport' version of the car has also been announced with a lower spec called the DEX410R, though details are yet to be finalised.

Street price for the real-deal DEX410 is said to be US$650, €510 or £450 - making it the most expensive 10th electric buggy in production, though the quality also speaks for itself.

Source: Team Durango

Team Durango is proud to reveal the official WEBSITE, SPEC and PRICE of their eagerly awaited DEX410 – 4WD Electric off road 1/10 scale competition buggy.

Designed and engineered in Germany, the DEX410 has been in development for several years, with the prototypes being raced by famous Champions like Craig Drescher, Atsushi Hara, Hupo Hönigl, Mark Pavidis, Marc Reinhard and many more.

The production version of this prototype car - that has five times made the World’s top ten & seven times the Euro’s top ten - will soon be ready for public release!

Estimated public launch end of June’09

Team Durango is “serious about racing” so the cars are defined by their engineering precision, attention to race-winning detail, innovative design and ground-breaking features.

Features NEW to this racing class – FASTER ON THE TRACK & less time in the pits
For best handling -
·Super stiff and ultra narrow aluminium chassis with unique transmission give perfect weight distribution and low centre of gravity
Maximum power -
·Metal gear differentials for zero slip and tuning options from the diff oil
Minimal maintenance & wear -
·Shock-absorber & drive shaft protective drive-boots
·Sealed gear differentials
Fast even in the pits -
·Quick-release battery mounts (Sub-C / LiPo), slipper-clutch and spur-gear
·Incredibly quick diff access (only 6 screws to remove diff & centre UJ)
·Quick release mini radio tray for ESC & RX

Pricing –
The DEX410 was conceived pre-“credit-crunch” and is a no-compromise specification with a huge number of new features for the class; this is reflected in the price.

Team Durango considered not launching this ultimate spec car and launching a dumbed-down version instead, (more in line with the cars already available). However racer interest has been so high, and running costs seem to be much lower than current cars out there, that Team Durango is going for it, with the ultimate spec as the launch car.
Due to the “credit crunch” the DEX410R will follow with its launch around September, with a much more normal specification and perhaps even the class standard ball differentials.

Expect the DEX410R to have a street price of around $390 (€306, £270). While the ultimate launch spec DEX410 will be around $650 in the shops. That’s around €510 or £450 in Europe when sales taxes are added.)

Just had a response from Durango regarding stocking there product, this was the reply:
"Marc,

At the moment we are only selling directly to the end consumer. In the future we may sell to a selected number of specialist RC retailers when our product range has grown.

Thank you for your interest in Team Durango."

This is good for the end user as it will keep the cost down, the only downside is parts backup as you will only be able to get them direct, so no trackside or local shop back up

Sure they'll fit Phil? It's a tight squeeze, trying to remember the pics but I have a vague feeling cell locators = will not fit!

I have added my name to the "got 2 get one" list. Just wrote them an email. Wonder how many they have in stock? Hopefully I will receive mine from the first batch!

The R version with a carbon fibre tub chassis would be nice

I wonder what is chopped out to drop the price for the R version ?, they talk about ball diffs instead of the geared diffs, i guess some people might actual prefer the ball diffs.

I think the gear differentials are one of the trademark features of the Durango. €510.- is quite a bit more than the expected €400.- price tag, but still cheaper than I had originally expected. I just wonder how much cheaper the R version will be and what will be different... Maybe my brain will have a slight malfunction when I return after a 6-week business travel in late August and I'll buy one - "Oh darling, sorry, I didn't mean to, must have been the jetlag!!!"

Does that matter to uk residents? I would have thought that it would only be a problem if you lived in any other european country or the usa.
As long as there is a durango UK, i'm happy. The only worry would be trackside spares availablity as marc k said.

fully understand darren
but thier release says distributors and shops wanted yet they told mark, no were selling to end user?

your uk distributer for xfactory, but you supply other stores, which according to mk does not seem whats happening with durango at the min.
just seems to contradict a bit

just found it confusing that the two dont tie up

personally i think its best how Xfactory is done, as any shop can bite the cherry, giving the end user more parts accesabilty
