Try going down to your local track, see what everyone is running (pick the most popular) and see if anyone there is selling last years car.......

You need to give info on what you are willing to spend and what you already have. There has been some excellent deals on here for TC's. Eg. TRF418 £300
TRF417 £200, TRF416 £100 Admittedly they are used rollers but still competitive with your chosen electrics in. Personally I like Xrays, have had Schumi's and an older Yoke but would recommend a T3 12, if your not running Mod then Xtreme stock ESC, Speed passion motor http://www.giantshark.co.uk/product/...reme-stock-esc http://www.modelsport.co.uk/speed-pa...products/36279 |

If your new to it, I would always opt for quality 2nd hand, over rubbish brand new, that sounds severe but you get the idea.
I bought a 2nd hand Xray last week as a trainer for my juniors, not pretty but no damage either. You always buy a new shell anytime too.

These are popular at our club, you can upgrade them easily with the R spec TC
http://www.rcmart.com/specr-sports-e...cPath=420_1581 Also the Sakura Zero XI sport is meant to be very good (slightly newer than the Spec-R) http://www.rcmart.com/3racing-sakura...cPath=420_1417 I would have these over the Mi1 any day of the week. As to Tamiya, parts are easy to get in the uk nowadays, and the fact they dont break also really ensures that its never an issue owning one.

I had an Mi1 lipo as my first new car after a 15 year break. It was ok but not designed for outdoor and Diffs were a pain to remove. Spent a bit making it more competitive but then bought a used T2009 and it was miles better so have stuck with Xrays.

A second hand Xray is the way to go. Great quality and they age well so are still decent second hand.
You'll pick up a decent T4 for around £160, which will be way better than anything new costing the same amount. For everything else (buying new)... Hobbywing Justock - £35 Vampire 17.5t Motor - £65 and basically indestructable Intellect Lipo about £50 - only need one pack for 17.5t Savox 1251 Low Profile Servo - £45 Radio gear - spend as much as you can afford Don't be tempted by anything faster than 17.5t for the first season or two, 13.5t boosted is about twice as fast as anything that existed 10 years ago, most newcomers/returnees I've seen go straight into this class have had a nightmare. |
