Hop ups for tr02 v2
Hi guys.
Thanks for the previous advice on motor upgrades. What would you now suggest I do to upgrade the rest of the car to make it race ready? I want to upgrade it bit by bit unless It wouldn't be worth it and I should get an Evo kit and build that instead. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

It is possible to upgrade your buggy bit by bit but to be honest your are correct in your thoughts of it being cheaper or easier to just buy an Evo.
It is a very good car out of the box so go for it. |

Thanks. What about the tm2v2? Or would it be better with the 2 tc02 cars for spares etc? I would love all 3 but don't think I will get away with that!!!

At the moment we are all favouring the TC02 C Evo over the TM2 V2 in most if not all conditions. The TM4 is an amazing 4WD but just stick to what suits.
The TM2 V2 and TM4 do share some spares though. |

Not sure on exact spec of current tr02 rtr, but if it is similar to when I bought one for my son 2yrs ago, heres my advice:-
Replace bushes with bearings. Cost ~£12 Keep an eye out for some big bore shocks - typically 2nd full set for ~£25 (you might need the front turnbuckle ball cup to be replaced with one for big bores - think they cost ~£3 for a pair) Replace the turnbuckles with a set that can be adjusted with a turnbuckle tool rather than pliers. Any breakages, replace with the "comp" spec plastics as it has slightly more carbon content and I found the front arms lasted longer by spending an extra £. Finally, locking hexes for the wheels as the plastic ones slip off the pin and you then lose the pin... Car drives well so in my opinion, there are plenty of things to spend money on, but none are essential. Oh, and get a spare screw for the ball diff (think it was an odd size like 2.5mm *40mm) as I have seen 2 people snap them and it isn't a common spare

Actually, just noticed that Tim from Batley is selling 3 sets of alloy team c shocks (small bore, not big bore) but they are also a good improvement over the plastic ones included as standard on the car. Search the "for sale" parts and spares to see the listing

The last time that I checked the Evo Team Edition was £290 and is still only gets an outing in the hands of the fast boys when it's hissing down!
Whereas, if you migrate to a low C of G version using your existing front end and either HBI or AZ parts then you will have a car that is becoming faster and faster on high grip surfaces. The parts needed are as follows: (UK Prices) Evo Chassis £15.00 Extra Idler TU0259 and bearings £7.60 plus bearings which are a couple of quid "Waterfall" brace T02253 £2.99 Battery strap T02258 £3.15 Rear Hanger (TC) £16.00 This includes inserts Layshaft spacer £3.34 There might be some other bits but I can't remember. ;-) The Dino parts are the box itself at £60, T-Plate £20, Motor Plate £6.50, C-Lugs £20. =£106.50 £154.58 the lot! I agree that the shocks need to be upgraded to the aluminium ones but that is true of your current car also. The AZ box is cheaper than the Dino but does need the aluminium rear brace at about £50. It will also need an aluminium or carbon T-Plate. AZ can provide an aluminium chassis and with any luck so will I soon. You may also need Chris' Swiss Army Knife and a Dremel!
