Default Time for a new motor?

Hello people of oople.

I currently run a GM 10.5 motor in my C4 and run at indoor track maritime raceway, last night i manged to get into the B final for my second week running from qualifiing .

But my fastest lap was a around 17s and everyone in my heat and final were kicking out high 15s laps.

I just cant seem to get much quicker with my laps and i can't seem keep up with the other cars on track and there is always somone qucker about 2 seconds behind i cant pull away from.

So do you think i should get a bigger motor like a 7.5 or 8.5 ish to give me some more power? I dont want to get somthing that will cause me to go too fast and crash everywhere an i have then got worse than what im currently doing.

Faster motor doesn't always mean faster times. A friend of mine was running a 7.5 in his Durango and blew the motor and only had a 13.5 spare so he put that in changed the gearing and turned the timing up a bit and went faster
