Default Aluminium gear diff 22 4.0

I've just ordered the above item. The question I have is,do you guys run the ally idler gear with it or the standard plastic one?.

Another question guys. I’ve fitted the gear diff and put 7000wt in. When turning the diff whilst holding the spur it spins VERY freely. I’ve seen tyremans setup sheet and he’s put the same in.
My question is,does anybody find that it diff’s out on fast corners?.

Phill

Hi Phill

I’m now down to 3000 in the diff, yes it does spin quite freely but I’ve not noticed it diffing out.

Cheers for the reply. Maybe it feels different because of the size of the gears. They’re quite small compared to others. I’ll leave 7000 in and give it a try. It's a top quality piece of kit, that’s for sure.

I’m also down to 3000. Have tried a number of different weights but find 3000 gives the perfect balance of drive and steering. Was using 7000 but found the car pushed on corners a little indoors on carpet, 3000 gives a lot more rotation. As you have found, it spins very freely but I haven’t noticed it diff out either.

Ok lads, thanks for the advise. I’ll change it to 3000 and give it a go. I’ve got a couple of weeks before I race again.

Just bought what I was told was the 22 4.0 ali gear diff but think it's actually the 4wd version. Other than the missing ali gear is there any actual difference so if I buy the gear will it fit in the 2wd?

It won’t fit as the end plate is different as are the outdrives.
