You might want to post what electronics you are using (speedo/motor/charger) and whether you ever intend to go racing with it at all.
As for road tires, just run a set of worn spike tires. |

Proline Dirt Hawgs are great for use on hard surfaces such as tarmac, concrete and gravel etc

I use ftx voltz intellect 3600/4200 stick packs in my zx-5 RTR and a trinity chameleon 19turn spec motor in it as the g20 was a bit slow. The kit esc seems to handle it ok.

Congrats on your first win and welcome to the wonderfull world of racing! It's quite a thrill isn't it? As far as investing in batteries is concerned... My oppinion is that if your local club allows Lipo batteries (or is intending on allowing them in the near future), and your car ESC can take them, you should go that way (even if it means buying a new charger). The advantages of Lipo are tremendous (you can often get away with having just 1 pack, with 2 your are definetly set for racing). Plus you can get higher capacity ones (6000 mah+) which will give you longer run times for practicing. It will cost you a bit more than nimh, but in the long run is worth it in my oppinion...

Why not, voltages are much the same, do not let the lipo voltage drop to low or you wont be able to recharge it, newer esc's have a cut out built in or you can fit one, or just dont over run the car untill the battery is flat.
You will need a lipo charger and if you are racing at club they will need to allow lipo - using and charging, search on oOple for lots more info. |
