xcelorin cogging

Hi

I have just fitted a 6400kv Losi xcelorin into a Pred with a 16t pinion.
I have a problem in that it coggs when accelerating from a stand.
I have changed the motor timing but it does not make any difference.
I have also loaded the latest firmware which has made no difference.
Any ideas?

humour me, is that a sensored or sensorless motor, and what is the ESC...

As for cogging, that can be a lot of things, even down to a poor connection. Try to use minimal amount of connectors, direct solder to the motor if possible too.

Steve, I'd hazard a guess that it is a non sensored motor as I think the Losi motors rated in Kv are non sensored, with the "turns" motors being sensored.

It looks as if it is a sensorless motor.
The ESC is a LOSB9515.
I am using TrakPower 4900mah lipo sticks.
Everything is properly soldered with no extra / unnecessary connections.

right, if you have decent solder connections, decent cells, then it is either how you got the ESC setup, gearing or firmware. Now cogging is where the ESC can't determine where the rotor position is, normally only from standstill, now you can try gearing down, but the cogging would still be there.

What option for setup are there on the esc?

The settings I have via a USB connection are,

Battery type Nimh or Lilon/Lipo with Cutoff Voltage -
Brake/Reverse - Throttle Limit - Reverse Throttle Limit -
Motor Timing - Initial Acceleration - Braking Percent -
Percent Drag Brake. (Radio) Legacy or 2.4GHz - Neutral Deadband -
Reverse Rotation.
I can also program Throttle and Brake curves.

the best ones to play with, is the Motor timing, initial acceleration and neutral deadband....

Make sure you have your voltage cutoff set though.

With some sensoreless systems, there is always a small amount of cogging.
