Default Euros Info

Im not sure if Jimmy will make this thread sticky but i thought it would be good to have some where to ask questions and chat to others who are going.

Firstly has anyone found any good prices on flights, the best prices i have found is £347 per person flying out on the sat before and flying home on the sunday after.
This was flying out from manchester via helsinki then an internal flight to vaasa.

Hiya Lee, looks like we've found the same flights as you have, I searched a number of websites trying to find a good deal, some prices came back at 1600+ per person, I think 335 each was the best I found, on expedia.
Looking for car hire now, expedia didn't offer the most competitive car hire rate so I'll continue looking around. It'd be interesting to know what deals other people have found.

We got our flights through BA for £170 return each, from Heathrow to Helsinki, and the 6 of us are going to hire a minibus (£500 for 8 days) and drive the last 240 miles.

I looked into flying to Helsinki then driving the rest of the way, but it was going to work out just as expensive and very inconvenient as far as time constraints. It's more expensive to fly from Manchester than Heathrow, but for us to travel to Heathrow would increase the cost just as much anyway. So we're going for the convenience factor and just flying to Vaasa with one stop each way.

Did I read that there is free internet access at the track? does that mean I don't have to drive about looking for an open wifi?

Guys and girls!

The distance betwen helsinki and wasa is only like 400-500km and all of you are
probobly all gona rent cars any way so see if skipping the last domestic flight
can save some money.

Another thing might be to see if you can go via stockholm arlanda?
they have direct flights to Wasa there if i am not wrong.

Otherwice there is some space left in my car to the euros

Default Flights

Remember to check the price from SAS/Blue1. They have a discount for this event, but I don't know how much is it from England. If you are flying to Vaasa, I would recommend to go via Stockholm. I checked the price from Blue1 and Manchester-Vaasa-Manchester was around 280£ without discount. The timetables are not the best possible, but we are sorting it out with SAS at the moment. I think www.amadeus.net is pretty good place to find flight timetables.

The road from Helsinki to Vaasa is pretty good. It's 400 kilometers so it takes around five hours to drive to Vaasa. Only problem is that there are plenty of speed cameras on the way

BTW Jimmy, we have a free internet access at the track for you

Prices for flights are going up by the week now. We ended up paying about £225 each from Bristol to Stockholm then on to Vassa. Its a long wait in Stockholm but hey!

BTW the SAS/Blue1 discount is a rip off, you have to fly "economy plus" which is about £150 more than economy, you then get your 10% discount.

I got reply from SAS and they said that the discount should be 15% if you fly economy plus and with regular economy the discount should be 10%. If you have some problems, send me email and I will take care of it (jussi.luopajarvi@vaasanua.net)

Has everyone booked flights yet?

I had another browse before and found finnair flying from amsterdam to vaasa via helsinki was good (£250 pp) if you flew out the fri and came home on the monday morning

Well this year it looks like we're all going to be in 'official' tshirts- I'm sure I can adapt mine to say Jimmy on there somewhere though.

What's the link to the track website? I can't remember it
