Unhappy Lack of Grip - SX3 - Worksop

Afternoon Everyone

Please help, i am currently running an sx3, and have completed 3 rounds at worksop (which is my first experiance of 1/10 off road although i do run nitro 1/8) I am strugling with setting my car up for the track, i have tried tinkering with the car but with no positive outcome. My problem ranges from no grip coming out of corners on power to my car feeling very twitchy in a straight line on power and lack of turning on slow tight corners.

My setup, as what i can reminder - LRP sxx tc (latest software) Low torque, low boost, low drag brake (setting 3, 1, 2, 2) with a 6.5t lrp motor.

Car Settings: 32.5w oil all round with 4 hole standard pistons (2.0R rear springs, 4.0F front springs)

Rear: - 2mm washers toe in, standard anti squat, middle position on shock tower (i did try the inner position as well), middle position on hubs, 2mm under camber link, long wheelbase
Front: - plastic yokes, 0 front track washers, 10deg rake, 2mm camber link both sides and middle shock position (i did try the inner position as well).

Running a tight FAB

Greg Williams' car looked really good there yesterday so maybe get a setup from him? Or Tom Cockerill? Perhaps ask Schumacher..

The setups i habe used so far are moto areana setup, sx2 setup from Si Moss, and sx3 setup for worksop from tom.

Dont know what to do next?

If i can just sort out the grip situation coming out of the corners when on power, i think i can sort out the turning and twitching by being smoother on the power.

It may just be me

I have been looking at the set-ups to use this sunday at worksop and noticed that the toe-in on the rear to be 3mm and 1mm, but when i do this, the drive shaft tends to pop out? Can any one help???

@thorny - sorry to hear about the problems mate. I had similar issues with my SX2 in that I tried what everyone was telling me and to no avail. It turned out to be a combination of two things for me - far too long ackermann, and too much camber.

Re: your question about rear toe in. I ran 3 degree toe-in at a track on Friday (this was too much) so going to return to my normal 2 degree.
Im guessing that when you say 3mm and 1mm you are talking about the washers. This shouldnt be anywhere close to allowing the driveshafts to pop out so something is very wrong there Im guessing - and this might be whats giving you some problems.

I know its frustrating but keep at it - and use oOple alot - there are so many really helpful, knowledgeable guys on here that are willing to help.

Good luck!

Just thought I would update today's experience at Worksop..

Round 1 - went out on current settings, car snaking everywhere.
Round 2 - after asking for help from Matt Dodd, to whom I am grateful for the help, car started to handle how it should do, although I broke my front shock mounting after forgetting to change it after previous round.
Round 3 - missed round due to rebuilding diffs, found that these have been far to tight (only following manual) now lovely and smooth
Round 4 - car handled good - still learning track
Final - won by a lap.

Just wish I would have sorted car out at round 1, and not round 4.

Can't wait for next round.

Thanks again

good result mate, and really happy you got it sorted.

Can you let us know how you changed the diff setup? How much did you slacken these off - the manual says 90 degrees.
Ta!
