tc5 gear ratio indoor on carpet
I'm curently running a 87 tooth spur with a 27 t pinion
this gives me a transfer ratio of about 6.44 to1 is this right for indoor carpet as my car seems slow compared to others and the lipo speedo and motor all seem fine.

I run an FDR of 5.712 around this track:
I would suggest dropping a few teeth on the spur or up a few teeth on the pinion to bring in down to around 6.000. I'm running the LRP Sphere TC 2007 and a nosram 10.5. |

I think you may be right, the novak website says I should have a fdr of about 5-4.5 using a 13.5 turn motor.
weird thing is the car seems to run out of top end on newburys 25 meter straight with the fdr of 6.4 is this because the fdr is wrong for the power curve of the motor ?

If it's reaching top speed and stopping accelerating down the straight it would be because the cars reaching max rpm on the straight before the end, gearing it up a little bit more should give you more top end.
On that track I could probably get away with going up another tooth on the pinion to give me and FDR of 5.49 but I never tried because it was going quite well and wasn't noticeably slower than anybody else. |
