Anyone know if there is a width/depth difference between the 12mm rear hex from Associated(9890) and the jconcept(2091) one?

Looks like a 511 and will mean if this handles anything like a 511 tamiyas days at the top are numbered. Im seriously tempted in buying one this year. Only issue i have is how long before they change the design as they do this far too often.

i am inclined to agree with you here.. the k1 looks like it has the potential to be a incredible car. i just hope Schumacher actually stick with and develop this car like tamiya did with the 511 and not next year bring out a totally different vehicle.

According to wikipedia

Sx1 2008-2009 1 yr
Sx2 2009-2011 2yrs
Sx3 2011-dec 2012 1yr 11months
K1 dec 2012

Schumacher are probably the only company that keeps on developmenting its cars and making them better all the time.........

Irrespective of the debate over time between model succession, to me it's very clear that the SX series of cars were pretty similar in design and many of the parts were carried over, but each new design gave an increase in performance.
I think what we have now in the K1 is the start of another line of cars with twin belts, which seems to be very quick going by Toms performance at Area51. Maybe they will do a US spec kit with big bores, who knows, especially as Schuey do seem to be paying more attention to the US market.

I can't wait to get my K1 on the track, just waiting for the shell to be sprayed.

Certainly Schumacher are known for IMO, fairly long cycle times between new designs. Each of the SX cars were evolutions, not really a new model, just as they had done previously with the Cat 2000 series and even earlier with the original Cat series, which had the longest product cycle of any cat (86-93 effectively).

There are certainly a lot of similarities between the K1 and the 511 though, but thats to be expected really, considering Lee's long term success at Uk National level with the Tamiya car plus the fact that most 4wd buggies now have, since the days of the J-Concepts BJ4, settled upon the XX-4 front and B4 rear suspension designs, only making subtle tweaks to the geometry since.

For me personally, the K1 improves on the 511 in the central bulkhead area, this is vastly simplified and improved compared to the tamiya, and overall I think the K1's simplicity will win it a lot of fans.

Thank goodness they've gone away from purple too
