Default Eden Park National

As we are fast approaching the National at Eden Park, thought I would start a thread.
There has been so much work done to this track, the transformation has been amazing. So many people have put so much time into getting this track back up to top standard. I am sure many people will be very impressed with all the effort that has gone into the track!!!

We will even have at least one past RC superstar coming to visit on National weekend, Kevin Moore!!!! That's right, he often comes along to race meeting and has a chat with most people and watches the racing, he has even been known to do the odd lap or two.

If anyone knows any past or present RC star, why not invite them to EPR National weekend......

I was going to start a thread after Talywain but DC has beat me to it!

If anyone has any questions about the venue and track, or we get more info that will be of use the racers, we will post it here and on our club website at www.edenparkraceway.com

Dont forget that we are hosting a 2WD regional two weeks before the national (15 June) where there will be an open class for anyone who wants to practice.

Anyone interested can drop me a PM or mail.

There is about 30 to 45 min between the end of qualifing and the start of finals. But, you would have to seek a much higher authority to get permission for this, but it's a very good idea

How about an 1/18 scale race at the end of racing on Saturday?

Whats the quickest/easiest way to get there (from oop north)?

I just put it into the satnav and its taking me though the centre of london. Is this the best way to go or is it easier to go round the M25 to the nearest junction?

Wouldnt really go through London unless you know it well or you're travelling at a totally off peak time & happy with speed bumps, bus lanes & red routes etc. Much better to go clockwise round the M25 & get off at jcn 4.

I know that over the years, the likes of Jamie Booth have come through the edge of east London and used the Woolwich free ferry. Jamie once said,"Its was like going on holiday!"

when coming home from work (M1) I use the M25 go round the east side ove the Dartford Crossing (£1 each way for cars/more for caravans) and come off at J4. It is 15 minutes from the M25 and fairy direct.

What time were you thinking of travelling/arriving and maybe I can help. I spend most days on the M1 and M25...

Every Friday I hear the traffic news on the radio (2) and the M25 seems a nightmare every single week, is that fair to say? Should I leave Thursday night and be really early?

In the civalised working world we have a thing called 'holidays' Lee, up there in the North where you don't have running water or electric, I'm not sure they've caught on yet.....

I have heard of those things you call holidays, but they are seen as evil things in the contracting world, if you don`t work you dont get paid

I could never sell my soul and become a staff man

OK...

On a Friday morning, we have found that our journey to work is the best - this morning was good with no traffic hold ups. But then Friday evenings are normally the worst so please bear that in mind.

It would not surprise me if the section from the J29 of the M25 to the bridge is not busy on Friday afternoon/evening. This does flow but like most mornings, it cannot handle the volume of traffic.

There are info boards over the M25 giving you distance and time to notable junctions so keep an eye on this. Unfortunately, once one route gets busy, everyone dives to the alternative so if the motorway is snarled up, the route through the edge of London (Woolwich ferry or Blackwall Tunnel) tends to be affected.

From the north using the M1 go clockwise round the east side of the M25 (Dartford) but if you are M40 or lower, then I think you should go anti-clockwise heading towards Gatwick. If you choose the latter, it is possible to come off at an early junction of the M25 like Croydon or Godstone but please have a map or Sat Nav handy.

Cameras! Please be aware that there is a Variable Speed Limit on the M25 after the Crossing round to J3. It is 50mph. Not sure if it works but I am too scared to test it! From J4 there is just one speed camera on the route but there are cameras on some of the junctions to try and stop people jumping the lights.

For those of you who want to know, the 30mph speed camera is in West Wickham on the A232 at the top of the hill. It is approximately half a mile after passing the Focus DIY store on your left...

If anyone wants more info, I am only too happy to help!
