Default Winter Warmer Series 2011-12 Round 2

After a very successful first round our annual Winter Warmer Series continues this Sunday and over the next five months. There is a round each month taking place on the first Sunday although with New Years Day being Sunday 1 January, we have deferred our event back a week.

This choice of race date ensures that EPR doesnt conflict with any other local club or major series within a sensible distance. Hopefully this will encourage more to attend our meetings that have proven to be very popular over the last few years.

The same proven format will be retained for this series with four qualifiers and a final for all. There are no tyre restrictions so drivers are welcome to use what they choose. Our December meeting will incorporate a raffle to add to the festive feeling.

The track is 90% Astroturf and drains very well so the inclement weather rarely affects our meetings. Parking and pitting is available trackside with an on-site cafe and bar as well as a safe area for the children to play.

If you intend to come down and haven't raced at the track in recent years, please e-mail your details to "edenparkraceway at live dot com" so we can save some time at booking in. Please include your full name, BRCA number, frequency, 2012 BRCA formula and PT numbers if applicable.

The dates are as follows:
6 November 2011
4 December 2011
8 January 2012
5 February 2012
4 March 2012

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to PM myself or MattADH or through the EPR site at www.edenparkraceway.com

Good days racing and well organised, cheers guys

Slightly off topic but Ive only recently started racing buggies and wondered what motor (how many turns) people would recommend for the EPR track. Im using a GTB Esc on my xxx-cr with a knackered Losi 6.5t motor that needs replacing...

Thanks guys for all the 'bouquets', always welcome and appreciated!

Hope you all enjoyed what we think (and hope!) was a great days racing in some of the most challenging conditions that our track can present to a driver!

I'd like to add how very pleased with how the day went, much better trunaround's, drivers waiting to race rather than us having to wait for them and we hope you can all see the benefits of a meeting running like this with a timely finishing time (remembering that not all our participants are local!) and we even managed to get cleared away and tidy BEFORE it got dark.....just!

Re. the question about 2WD motor choice. We would always suggest to relative newcomers to think about a 13.5 (these days this wind is really only noticeably slower down the main straight!) and when a little more confident maybe a 10.5 or 8.5. These days even many of the very top drivers only use 7.5's in their 2WD's and as you can see by the conditions we had yesterday a 'softer' more driveable motor would be very much more useful during the Winter. Oh and not forgetting battery output has to be taken into consideration at the same time!

Thanks again
EPR Committee

Results for WW Round 2 are now up on our website here:

http://www.edenparkraceway.com/Winter%20Warmer%20Series%202011-12%20Round%20Two/index.htm

Guess that now means I'll have to get my finger out and produce Championship tables!

It was a good meeting and I must apologise to Simon if I came across as rude at the start of the finals.

I didn't understand how the RbR worked as it wasn't anything like any other RbR that I've seen (each round on the board was actually FTD, not RbR, so you didn't have a clue where you were until the finals were posted)

I'd checked the board which said I was 10th, but when the finals were printed I was 11th instead...

Maybe the overall can be RbR rather than FTD next time ?

Sure you do understand Round-by Round Chris and I'm equally sure that the error in the printouts was wholly down to us this time, apologies for any confusion! We had announced that RbyR would be the means of qualifying for the day during drivers briefing unfortunately BBK thought otherwise!
For fear of jeopardising the meeting and what had been run before we waited until the end of qualifying (and it was still a little scary to do it even then!) before we amended the system to produce the Finals listing that was very definitely based on RbYR as you can see in the posted results! I too lost a place on the grid so you weren't alone!

Apologies once again for any confusion caused on the day, we will, once again, keep an even closer eye on what BBK throws at as. Simon is doing an excellent job learning the craft that is Race Direction and at the same time coming to terms with the complexities of BBK and he should be given maximum respect for his efforts..........AT ALL TIMES, CHRIS!

He did explain what had happened when I spoke to him, it was just confusing that I seemed to drop down the list (in reality that hadn't happened, it was where I qualified). I agree with you that he's doing a great job !

That's ok Chris

Bbk just threw us a curve ball. Nothing quite like the buttock clentching moment when you have to change something quite fundamental in bbk and you don't know if it will reset the meeting back to zero (it's happened)!!

We got there in the end though

I was running it as well.. how did i find it ?

Excellent, never put a foot wrong all day, was easy to drive and plenty fast enough (even though it had a 10.5 in it). Narrowly missed out on the A final though Next time !
