Default Trackstar Gen2 ESC

Hi All
Just wanted to know if any one uses a Trackstar Gen2 ESC and if so how good/reliable are they?
I was thinking of purchasing one along with a Trackstar 10.5t motor.
The motors are currently out of stock with Hobby king so would I be able to combine this ESC with a Speed Passion motor?

Hi, I have 5 of the gen 2 esc's. Me and the boy run them. They have been totally reliable for the last 3 years. If you run them with anything under 10.5t I would advise using the fan to control temps especially with 4wd.

Hi Bigalbi

Thank you for the reply, thats good to know you have had no trouble with reliability with the Gen2. The only other ESC I was looking at was the Toro TS120 comp which has a pretty much identical spec to the Trackstar.

Would i be a able to run a speed passion motor with the Trackstar gen2?

I have also ordered the program box to go with the ESC. Looking at some of the reviews this can be hit or miss if it connects to the ESC. If you have any set up advise this would be appreciated.

You may need to update the firmware on the programme box, latest file is on the tab on the Hobbyking site. Easy to do but unfortunately only worked for me using a pc running Windows 7.

Careful updating the firmware - one of the TS ESCs is known for not playing ball with the PC after it's done, it even warns you about it on Hobbyking's site.

I have also read this somewhere that when the firmware is updated the ESC no longer connects to the laptop/program box. I have left the firmware well alone.

I must admit i have got the software to work on windows 10 and the ESC functions really well. I have now purchased a second ESC to go in the new car when it arrives
