Liquid mask question

Hi I've got a few body shells to paint and I'm thinking of using liquid mask, but could someone tell me roughly how muchit takes to mask up an average 1/10 shell as I want to make sure i get enough, but at the same time I don't want to wase it as it's not especially cheap. Thanks.

You don't need too much.

If you brush it on - 2 or 3 decent coats should be fine - let it dry in-between coats.

If you are unsure - when applying the mask, also apply it to areas of the shell that are redundant / that you would cut away once painted. Then you can do a test cut on the mask when it's dried and you test if you are good to go.

You want it to peel away easily in one piece. If it falls apart its too thin - put on another coat

Basically - too thin = nightmare to remove - too think - ok but costly!

Do you have it make it thinner? or does it do in to the paintbrushgun as is?

I used fasmask liquid mask 16 oz (roughly 500ml). About 2/3rd used on approximately 12 1/10th shells. Just applied it with old paint brush; I would say do 3 coats. Best when allowed to air dry, hairdrying not so good. Very easy to use and much better results than tape. Virtually no bleeding when careful, use new blades to cut the design.

I use RCS liquid mask all the time, I spray it on using a cheap fast movers touch up gun. Thin about 4 mask to 1 water, dry between coats with a hair dryer, 5 coats leave infront of the heater for an hour and your ready to cut.

Im still in the dark ages using tape and a vinyl cutter.
I have some liquid mask but not tried it yet

Cool thanks for the replies folks. Normally being a skin flint I'd use tape but just bought a load of shells for my vintage cars so I want them to be right.
