Hi Danny,
Is it the rear or mid motor car?
Big bores or not?
Thanks!

I used the mid car and was using the standard small bore shocks with standard springs.

Ansmann stuff. Seems really good. Only difference is its cav and not what we are all used too. I think it's about 35 front, 32 rear.

Very little. I probably ran about 15mm rebound. Its not something i really play about with. I tend to just bleed the shocks and make sure they rebound the same.

Dan have you flipped the wishbones on your x2c and put the rear shocks in front of the tower?

No pal. It's standard. Not thought about trying that as I think I'd struggle with steering anyway.

Are you going to be racing on carpet? If so then i would be temped to stiffen up the oil a little as the car did pitch quite a bit on the slippery track at worksop. It always seems to be the way that i like my car to handle there.

Maybe going up "50" on the oils would do the trick.

Danny

I'm racing at Stotfold (astro) for the 1st time on sunday for the winter series & i wondered what weight oil to use in big bore shocks on an x2c (currently using 30w front & rear), plus any other tried & tested hints for a good base set up would be appreciated ?

Dan.

Sam on the old layout at torch I ran this setup on my mad monkey. I was about 5 seconds off tq with this.

Springs - ansmann x2c black front and ansmann soft (purple) rear
Piston 2 hole STD
Oil 30 rear 20 front
Shock positions inner hole top outer hole wishbone front and rear
Links in kit positions
1degree neg camber rear, 2 neg front front wheels parallel.
80 grams of weight on servo.
Yellow minispike rear - blue insert
Yellow stagger front - no insert

I titled the shocks over to make it less nervous on corner entry but the compromise was that the shocks being tilted in meant the rebound reduced and the car jacked down over bumpy sections and bottomed out. Hence the very low oil ratings to prevent this. The thinner I went on the oil, the better the car was.

Given more testing I'd probably have played with standing the shocks up again and played with the damping a little more. Alas I've moved so no more TORCH for me.

Hoping to buy an x2c in the next few weeks and race at stotfold.

Danny,

Could you please post both your setups from the Area 51 race?! Thanks.

How was the grip level? Are you using Schumacher springs on the BB? If so, why? Are they direct fit?
