Default Important announcement - new tyre rules

Please take a moment to read this notice as it will affect everyone who runs at the club (Buggy and GT12)

4 weeks ago, an email was sent out to all members asking for feedback on a proposal made by the committee to run a trial where buggies would only use rubber tyres and GT12 would only run the controlled tyre.
The proposal was made on many grounds, all detailed in the email and was targeted to come in to on the 7th September after the summer shutdown.

As a reminder, we asked for feedback on the following proposal for Buggies:-
The committee proposed, after much debate, to run a trial of rubber tyres as one last information gathering exercise before committing to a decision to switch on a permanent basis (or not).
The committee proposed that this trial will commence after the summer shutdown and will run throughout the Autumn / Winter championship.
After this period the committee will decide the fate of buggy foam tyre use at the club.
I would be very grateful if you could take some time to consider the above and respond with a YES or NO to the proposal to run a trial period of rubber tyres only.
In addition, I would very much like to hear your feedback if you have tried switching to rubber tyres, having raced foams for a while and how valid our assumptions and reasons are for considering a switch (stated above)

We asked for feedback on the following proposal for GT12:-
The committee proposed, to run a trial of the Schumacher controlled tyre as an information gathering exercise before committing to a decision to switch on a permanent basis (or not).
The committee proposed that this trial will commence after the summer shutdown and will run throughout the Autumn / Winter championship.
After this period the committee will decide if a permanent switch to controlled tyre will take place.
I would be very grateful if you could take some time to consider the above and respond with a Yes or NO to the proposal to run a trial period of control tyres only.

Again, to be clear, this wasn’t a formal vote on the proposals, just a means of gathering members thoughts and feedback and using this in the committee debate before making an informed decision.

Well the response to the email has been good with a response rate of 45%. The response was also positive in terms of how many members took time to not just consider the proposal reply with their view, but provide valuable thoughts and feedback where experience trying the alternative tyres allowed and make suggestions too.

In terms of the response, taking into consideration it wasn’t a formal vote, just a means of gathering feedback and identifying trends, the results are as follows:-

Buggy
YES 15 in favour (83%)
NO 3 against (17%)

GT12
YES 10 in favour (100%)
NO 0 against (0%)

I think the results speak for themselves in as much as there seems to be an overwhelming openness to try these changes out.

On that basis, the trial will start on the 7th September and run through to 31st December.

The following rule changes will come into force on the 7th September and continue during this trial period (both fun and championship nights):-
· Buggies will only be allowed to run rubber tyres and no longer run foam tyres.
· Any type, brand or compound of 1:10th scale rubber tyre can be used during the trial period. We will use further feedback to determine if a controlled tyre is appropriate after if the outcome of the trial is positive.
· GT12 will only be allowed to run the Schumacher controlled tyre and no longer run other compound of tyres

The committee will seek feedback throughout this trial period and decide what to do following the trial, well in advance of the start of 2019.

If you have any questions, concerns or further feedback, please speak with a committee member.

Thank you for your continued support and help in the running of your club.
