Default Esc capacitors

Would incorrect replacements affect braking??

My hw 2.1 has crap brakes. People seem to think they shouldnt be crap.

Radio setup is all 100% esc settings are 100%

But while very nearly clicking buy now for a new xr10pro...
I had a thought. Very soon after buying the 2.1 I had to change the capacitors for some from a spare different esc.

Could that be the issue

No, not likely. I assume the new cap was a similar ESC cap package, and not just something you bought from maplin?

How old is your motor? What have you got it set to on the program box or PC software?

Try lowering the brake frequency, the lower you go the stronger the brakes are.

not sure about above comment and you can not alter brake frequesncy on the 2.1

many in gt12 found that is you put reverse up to 100% (even though you dont use reverse) the brakes improved

No, it doesn't. More likely poor magnets in the motor, has it been hot? How easy is it to turn it?

thaks for the help guys, much appreciated,

the motor never gets hot, Im quite new to buggies and captain slow LOL, after 5 minute qualifier I be lucky to have taken 900mp out of a pack LOL, until this weekend the motor has never had boost or turbo on it

was sat having a right good think and realised a rather embarrassing thing, I remember when I first got the ESC and car, during a late night flurry/rush to try and test the car I very very briefly reverse polarity connected the battery, was just a flashtouch, but thats why I had to have the external capacitors replaced

I wonder if the ESC actually suffered some internal damage

off to collect a new buggy this Friday, looks like a HW 3.1 or XR10 be added to the pile LOL
