Default Alpine Sat Nav problem

I've had the Alpine NVE-099 sat nav in my golf for years and it's a great system built into my headunit, but recently it's been giving me an error when I try to enter a UK postcode.

When I swap to Europe it's fine and I can enter their number postcode thingy, but not in the UK.

I took the DVD out and it appears to have a very fine ring around the centre of the data. Could using the UK part of the disc wear it out?

The GPS co-ords works fine and it'll guide you home or to any of my saved locations fine.

I tried putting my 2006 DVD in instead of the 2007 version, but I think it's upgraded the firmware on the unit now and won't work doing that.

Just trying to clone the DVD, but it's a dual layer and I don't have any blanks yet to try.
