Xpert full size servos fit fine. And of course, Spektrum do too!

I must have done something wrong with my steering then. I’ll have to take it apart this week and have a look. I tried fitting it twice this last week and couldn’t fathom why it wouldn’t go. Cheers for the pic Neil.

Is the issue you’re having when the top of the servo horn/steering link hitting the underneath of the front bulkhead? If so, mine caught a little, but removed some material from the bulkhead and now it’s fine. You could also use some servo spacers to bring the servo forwards slightly, and this should give more clearance

No,that’s not the problem. As you can see from the pic, their is plenty of clearance between the servo horn and steering rack with the low profile servo, but when I try to put the full size in it won’t go because of how close it is.

maybe not shimming it correctly when mounting the servo to the servo mounts?
part number TLR231027
on page 11 or 12 of the manual.

or try a different size shim to see if you can get it right

This is how close it is to the steering rack without the horn on😳. I notice some of you guys are using the ally parts where the servos screws on. Could that be the difference????

Have you tried with the horn on? it looks closer in these pics than it actually is, probably got over 1mm clearance with the plastic parts and maybe 0.5 with the ali she looks snug but it doesn't touch through any part of the steering range, its where the horn sits vertical where its the closest. Maybe it's having the bell cranks flipped that's causing the issue? I've never flipped mine so I couldn't comment on that.

It looks like the mounting lugs on the servo are further back on the black edition just look at how much further forward the back of your servo is, it should be inline with the back of the part of the servo mount, some of the early Spektrum ones were like this.

One way to rectify this rather than replace your servo is to get the alloy servo mounts so you can mount the servo on the back of the mounts.
Not done this myself but would be cheaper than buying another servo.

Looking at Neil’s car it should go. The servo He has doesn’t look any different to my Black Edition. Maybe the fact that I’ve flipped the bell cranks is a factor. I’m at work now so I’ll give it a go tomorrow when I’m up. I’ll try it as the steering is now and in its standard position and report back. Cheers for the replies lads, much appreciated.

I’ve had a look at it today and had to put the steering back to the original kit set up. The servo horn was totally locking up against the steering rack with it the other way. This is a pic of it. JUST enough clearance!.

Third time on the carpet with the car today at West Bridgford and it was flying. I put 3000wt in the diff and it was spot on. Some top drivers there and I would have been happy with a B final. Managed to get it in the A at the back and ended up 8th.
Next question
Has anybody got any suggestions about set up for Worksop, medium grip sports hall, cork like running surface?

Tyreman, your setup seems to have disappeared off here for low grip???

There is a good selection of setups here - http://site.petitrc.com/setup/losi/SetupSheetLosi224.0/

You could try my Boughton setup as that is pretty low grip astro, or Brian's Oswestry setup is also listed.

Ran the 22 4.0 today at Worksop and it was mint, managed to qualify B8. Every round I got more confident to push it and got faster and faster. The final went even better...until the last two laps!. I got up to 2nd but had too many mistakes on the last two laps which took me down to 4th in the end. This car does not disappoint.
