Default Is It Safe To Run Novak GTB Without a Fan

I sold my old Superdave Mardave on ebay and now the buyer is mardy because it doesnt have a cooling fan on the esc. I bought it 2nd hand and raced it as it was. He is now saying that the model shop has told him not to use it without.

Any advice please?

Thanks Mark

First of all, did the pictures of the 'dave show the GTB without a fan on it? If so no problems at all on your side as far as I'm aware; the person knew what they were getting as long as it was the same as the picture.

Secondly, you can use all ESC without a fan on them. It just depends on the load going through them to how much they heat up. If you're at the top end of their capacity motor wise you'll need one but there's no need if you're at the bottom end.

For example in my SS (13.5) and my 2wd (10.5) I don't use a fan on the ESC and they are barely warm after a heat. On my 4wd (7.5) I do use a fan as it has a much faster motor in it and the comes off a bit warmer.

I imagine it will be fine, people used to use them in b4s with 6.5s back in the day without any issues, they are a pretty tough speedo
