For those who are interested there is a very small weight advantage but that, in all honesty, the major benefits are in the use of a shorty pack (and the 100g or so you'll save there) and the shift of the weight further back.

you are right, if you just compare the chassis then the motogo seiki does not save so much weight. but if I remember it right there were more, mainly plastic things, that you do not use with the new chassis. anyway, there are 2 main weight savers - the battery as you mentioned and the weight shift backwards which made (in my case) the previously needed rear and side weights redundant. I will weigh my car tonight and post the difference before and after.

I just saw that the screws are missing on your second photo. they should add a few gramms... :-)

It all depends on batteries etc ,mine weighs 1680 ready to race with no weight and std 290g battery.
