Mike, quoted you but it applies to all young drivers really.

The insurance companies and Police are starting to crack down on Fronting and at worst case means your car can be confiscated and crushed (as your insurance will be void, you won't have any and they can do that) and you'll also be prosecuted as an uninsured driver.

Just great in the UK isn't it!!!!!!!!

For majority of cars (if you live in an OK area) will be 2k at 17/18, just stump up the cash and pay for it! It will work out better in the long run, plus you will be fully legal!

Look around, Churchill are good for standard cars, Endsleigh are good if your a student.

I did it all properly, paid 2.4k in my first year of motoring (well 2k, but 200 for interest and 200 for a car swap), paid 1600 for a modded car in 2nd year, then changed cars half way through, swapped to Aviva and paying 1k fully comp (was 18y/o and 1ncb) on a 130bhp Ibiza (well more like 150bhp and 270lb/ft)

As someone that has passed their test but is also over 30 i was expecting big insurance costs, however i have saved myself from the 2k plus insurance while still building no claims, have done this by using an Admiral multicar policy. So my girlfriend with many years of safe claim free driving has one car on the policy and i have another yet the cost for both is still less than mine on its own would have been. Hope that makes sense!
