Looks like it could be good - but we'll have to wait and see I guess, but very interesting.

Don't think so, can't see Academy mentioned on their list of products: http://www.horizonhobby.co.uk/autoon..._products.html

there isn't a distributor in the UK as far as I'm aware, I had to get mine from the states.

Horizon Hobbys still carry kits and parts for the Academy but for some reason they dont advertise it on the site, shame as it could be a decent car to use, I had one a couple of years ago, wish I never sold it, always used to drive very nice and stable.

Pro version is already out. It's called the Yokomo B-MAX4.

Nice to see Academy keeping it classy, like they have done from day one. Tamiya Grashopper - sorry, Academy RoadRunner - anyone?

I can confirm that Horizon are no longer the agent in the UK for Academy, we had most of their kits of them a little while back and cleared them at silly money (still one or two left) and the remainder of the spares were shifted in bulk to an internet clearance company who I believe are responsible for the vloume of Academy parts that have recently surfaced on ebay, ny belief is that these were once the stock from Horizon. But I am 100% certain that there is nothing left from Academy now at the Horizon warehouse.....

So what if it has the same layout as the Bmax4, HB D4, & B44...and is all plastic. Hard to reinvent the wheel. Should they have copied the ZX5FS? Don't most 1/12 look the same? Heck even 2wd buggies. Same layout...all plastic. You can say the same for F1 racing! Do those F1 teams lack class by trying to copy each other?
Academy is a plastic model co. first. So why wouldn't they go all plastic.

Stop drinking this stuff.

Default I

Looks good to me! I'm still driving my SB Pro V1, and it looked like they fixed all the 'problems' with the V2(gripes from people wanting more car than they paid for), so v3 will hopefully be very competitive!

As in the past, the pro version will likely include all aluminum shocks (threaded this time?! ) a carbon chassis, and a few chunks of purple aluminum. Maybe they can keep the low prices.

More pics!!!!

So, the standard kit will come with threaded shocks!! Now I want a pic of the center gear area. Carbon shock towers will be an option as the plastic ones on the car are a flat piece, and the motor mount appears to be black anodized aluminum. Nump steer has likely been eliminated because the steering posts are only mounted on the bottom. If they are angled with the steering knuckles, then they won't mount to the top the way they have in the past.

One of the MRC / Academy drivers who I race with has the SBV3 to put through its paces for awhile now (Brandon A on rctech, winner of last years X-fest and was featured on Team Tekin's website), from what I can tell he changed some settings like going with Losi springs. He and RC Dad (his dad) also determined how to use the original V1/V2 wheels on the car (it uses a full pin setup by default front and rear) and from what I can tell is much more planted than the SBV2 was, and jumps very level.

It also seems to like to drive with its suspension in the front a bit more higher than the V2 did from what I recall, but goes around the track faster than the V2.

The plastics are quite durable from what I can tell.

The 1/10 4wd class has a variety of vehicles in it, including some of those 1/12 scale Ofna truggy things as well so nice variety in the class. I believe a Durango or 2 may get ran soon too in the class here.
