Default New carpet and new rules.

Hi All

I am very pleased to say that the club will soon have a new carpet, to replace the carpet that we currently have.

The carpet is a large investment for the club so with this in mind the following new Club rules will be installed to ensure that we take the best possible care of the new carpet, and provide a great fun racing experience.

Additives
A big change is that we will insist on a selection of controlled additives. The current popular additives use an oil base, which is why we end up with a black line of oil soaking into the carpet at the end of the night, and then needing the oil based additives to generate grip. This oil also attacks rubber, reducing the life of both foam and rubber tyres.

As we will have a new carpet we have the opportunity to keep the oil out of the carpet by banning oil based additives, and a lot of clubs are moving to limiting the additives to the BRCA 1/12th list.

We will be using the new BRCA water based additives listed below. They are well priced, safe and will be mandatory for the club once we start running on the new carpet.
SXT 3.0 Traction Compound (SXT3) – translucent white bottle, black cap & label, sponge applicator.
Spider Grip Green - Xtra Strong (SGSX-125) – silver can, ‘carbon effect’ label, ‘green spider logo’.
Spider Grip Blue - Strong (SGBS-125) – silver can, ‘carbon effect’ label, ‘blue spider logo’.
LRP Top Grip Carpet 3 (65012) - White bottle, blue logo, the words "Green Formula" on label.

If you do not have the above additives you will still be able to race, as we will provide a club additive in the short term for a small additional fee that you can borrow to do your tyres. You are also welcome to race without additive.

Anyone found using alternative additives will be banned for the night and will also have to pay the cost to have the carpet professionally cleaned to fix the damage.

These additives have been found to work just as well as the additives we currently use, on both rubber and foam tyres. Being water based they are also better for the tyres, helping them last longer with less wear. They are also better value than the current additives.

These additives are available from:

Ride Height
We also ask everyone to check your ride height. We will be able to check the ride height, as we want to ensure that the carpet will not tear

Tape pulling
If a car is pulling up the tape, or looks like it has a loose screw coming out of the chassis, then we would like you to respect the track and immediately remove the car.

Off Road Buggies and Trucks
We will not allow cars with Schumacher Mini-Pins or Mini Spikes on the track. They will pull up the surface of the carpet and cause excessive wear whilst destroying any grip that has developed on the track. we recommend foam tyres for buggies, better handling and longer life.
Other off road tyres will need to be approved by me before you are able to race them and will mostly be fine unless its apparent they will damage the carpet.
We will also be considering shock mount protectors for buggies, as the shock mount screws can easily rip the carpet when they roll in an accident. we have many small tears in our current carpet from accidents involving buggies.

As you can see the above rules are about looking after the new carpet which is a great asset for our club, its expensive to replace so I am sure you can all understand why we have to just follow the above to respect our new purchase. They are not about changing the relaxed racing atmosphere that has helped define our friendly club over the years.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks
Terry
