Anyway the plastic Will be 30 years better i hope
If the tranny upgrade from schumacher contains new diffs and a layshaft belts then it sounds cheap

This by far the worst car I have ever built but my first Schumacher. I’ve built several Tamiya, TRF, Kyosho YZ10 models but this was definitely a painful experience but also parts quality is so poor as is the finish. Steering is a joke followed as per instructions and very stiff not free and smooth like wise the pivot on the balls for the hub.

I mean who the hell uses self tappers into aluminium? For the eccentrics why could they have not tapped it and used fine screws? If Tamiya could manage it back in the 80s?

Now I need to find a circlip pliers that’s small enough and the car is done oh and the missing roll bar joint end from the kit.

I just hope when I run it doesn’t disintegrate.....might use a mild 17T brushed motor.

I'm using a 10.5 brushless with mild boost on standard transmissions indoors at worksop masters had no issues yet with failing tranny

Just make sure front gearbox housing screws are nipped tight mine has slipped once causing loose Belt tension on front

The idea of 're release was an authentic copy of original and that's what we got
I think most have become shelf queens not seen many racing yet

Regards dave

I’ve just built mine with the transmission kit, without doubt you have to pretend you’ve travelled back in time when building it, by that I mean with regards to manufacturing costs & assembly methods etc. It needs fettling & tinkering (ie, choosing to use a few alternative screws/using nyloc nuts here & there) to help make it all work nicely & reliably.

Now built, it feels very pretty tough tbh, though time will tell

Yeah true that’s how it was back in the day but 80s Tamiya look at the Avante Ok not great on the track but fit and finish of parts were so ahead of Schumacher. I mean flat head screws put me off buying one in 1989.

So change the screws if your use to Tamiya then don’t buy one. Tamiya’s are toys made of plastic Schumacher’s are racing cars designed to work end of

What a load of crap tamiyas all had self tappers and their plastics were rubbish, their Designs in the late eighties were and still are no where near what Schumacher were doing at the same time. As others have said if you don’t like it don’t buy it lol
