in my opinion, the day you think you know everything is the day you should "retire" from the sport/hobby. you can never stop learning.

35 years and still learning!!

Thanks for the critique of my advice as "bollocks" - most helpful to my continued learning. As pointed out, NiMh cells are no longer the best start for a newbie, LiPo is easier. Glad Timmee has made a choice and will be coming to see it all in the flesh.

Also good to hear how much people enjoy 12th. It is all the things people say it is, and can now be raced indoors all year round at the many great indoor facilities springing up recently. Good luck, Timmee, hope you enjoy your visit to Chesterfield, and your 12th racing.

I picked up at 12th for last winter indoor at our local club (the hall is to small to enjoy touring car).

I've only been racing only for 2 years in total (TC) and because of how EASY and cost efficient buying a single lipo and topping it up between 5 minute runs (took about 20-25 mins to top back up using a 10.5).

I took the plunge and brought a 12r5.1, and out of the box it was fine to drive - i was advised to widen the front, reduce caster and add a little preload to take away aggressiveness and now its lovely to drive and no twitchy at all.

12th is super fun no matter what chassis and gear you have. just dont buy something you have to replace if you ever want to be competitive. plus using things that others are using - your more likely to get up to date accurate information.

Default Orca Infinite 6000Mah 3.7V 60C 1-Cell Race Pack

Hello,

Has anyone tried this EFRA approved battery. Specs seems to be fine.
I would be using it in 1/12th scale spec class in Finland where we run 10.5t motors with no-timing esc.

More info about the battery here:

You would be best off asking over on

http://rcracechat.com/vb/forum.php

in the 1/12th section

Vesa Yli would be able to offer you advice as well

Well I started 1/12 a few months ago and I bought a

AE12R5.1
Futaba s9650 servo
LRP SXx tc spec Version 2 speedo
Novak ballistic 10.5
2 LRP 1s lipo pack 50c

Tyre compounds
6 pink rears
3 double pink fronts
4 magenta fronts

78t 64dp spur gear
34-44 64dp pinions

Every item I bought I managed to get second hand on oople other than gears and 1 lipo and tyres.

And I have run at Chesterfield with this setup and the only thing that stops me being competitive is my driving

Looks like a rebranded IP battery to me, as quite a few are. It should be as good as most.
