Default which lipo?

Hi all!

As im sure you have all seen the lipo list is now available and there are plenty of saddle lipos to choose from!

So my question is, do i convert to stick pack or do i leave my pred in saddle formation? what do you guys reckon??

Tah,

Tom

I want to switch to stick so that I can use them in my touring car. I'm tempted with the demon 5000mah 40C ones.

at first I was thinking about converting my X10 to stickpack just so that I could use my Stickpack Lipo's and didn't want to have to buy yet another set of sadle-pack Lipo's.
But since I had allmy old NiMH-packs converted to sadle-pack, I thought there was no need.

But then I talked things over with Nathan and it became clear to me there were more advantages.
With a stickpack lipo-converted Pred ...
  • I could stop doing regulary maintenance on my NiMH's that were not or hardly used during winter-season (discharging them, balancing the cells to 0.9V, charging them again with some 800mA, ...).
  • I could easely use my Lipo's that are very easy to use
  • no more hastle avoiding short-circuits when droping those sadle-packs into the car, with the bare connections coming so close to other components
  • no more risks of the sadle-pack-wire touching the axe.
  • A gain on "weightloss"!
  • The possibility to add weight into the car wherever i want it to be, to balance the car
  • the fact that Nathan witnessed that he felt the Stick-lipo-pred to gain on cornering-abilities
  • a less complexe electronics-placement-puzzle
Anyway, the conversion was not that difficult to do and made the car easier to use and it's no big deal.

I have now my X10 converted AND my X11
and if I would have to buy a new one, I would do this modification immediatly again without hesitation.

I even did close the battery-slots on my X10 before making the stickpackmod and that was far more work to do (sanding the exess epoxy).
I have some pics here:

blimey ludo you are starting to save me work lol, like ludo says the car does have handling advantages in stick format. personally i have found the car pivots better mid corner. it does seem to jump a little flatter as well and allow more room fo radio gear. as for which one to get it depends on the racing you intend to do. if just regionals then any off the list will be good. im personally using track power 4900's as they will be efra legal as well so good for the euros + they have great performance and reliability. we used them at the 24 hour race and matched or beat most teams in terms of run time. but the choice on which is upto you and what equipment you know and trust

Its not so much the brand as lipos are new to me so im not fussy (was going to get the track poweres if they were legal, and they are )

I was wondering if its best to have a stick or saddle pred? im thinking from the comments, stick?

I'm going to convert mine to stick so I can share the same pack as my B4. I like stick packs, they seem more 'solid' if you know what I mean. I don't suppose there's much in it really though.
