Just a quick post so as no-one misses out.
I posted this link to our new 22-SCT action video on the Team Losi thread but since SCT discussions seem more active here, I'll share it here for you all as well click HERE Bear in mind that this this truck hasn't had any setup time invested into it yet so I'm sure it can be tuned but I like its jumping attitude with the kit TLR Max Flow body on it and it definitely changes direction nicely. The eagled eyed will spot the two-wheel action at the end of the straight - nice bit of car control from Delves who said that the balance was composed enough for him to catch it easily without it turning into a grip roll. A couple of nice jump downsides where you can really see the 22-SCT drive forward on the astro. Build was completed with a Spektrum S6040 servo and had a mixture of power systems in it including the Dynamite Sensored Fuze system with a 8.5T motor and an LRP SXX v2 with an LRP 6.5T and the chassis could certainly cope with the extra power from the 6.5T setup as you'd expect. Tyres were Schumacher Yellow Minispikes front and rear. Can't wait to drive one myself now |

mid all the way

Yup...
mid is the only way... change tyres, drop power and add 50g rear weight kit when it's damp/wet on Astro Mid motor config will be progressively faster through a corner and more balanced over jumps. going on 22 buggy experience the rear config will feel easier to drive and can be driven more agressively but will be slower when you look at the time sheets. |

Rear motor is only for low grip dirt tracks such as rhr or simmilar

Ran my 22 SCT for first time tonight on a bumpy low grip astro track...
felt awesome out of box with a rough starting set-up from previous experience with TLR 22 buggys, very quick, balanced and lot's of useable forward drive, plenty of steering too as i expected... accelerates and jumps like a 4WD! and to the sceptics... NO, it doesn't have the same 22 buggy drive characteristics! 100% recommend the 22SCT and can't wait to get it up against the other National competitors... will try a couple of tweaks during it's first meeting but it feels very nearly there from the box and the first time a new kit has felt good on the first run. The build quality is great, there have been some material and component improvements since 22 was originally launched, the uprated diff/thrust balls feel very nice. Top work TLR |

Just reading your comments about the truck on the other post but thought I'd move it back over here.
I build my truck last week, initially it lacked some steering so decided to move the battery (full size) forward all the way to behind the servo and mount the ESC behind the battery on the chassis, this helped a lot and seemed to balance the car better. Just thought I'd share it with you

What tyres are you using?
I've had more than enough steering which has been dialled out with set up changes using 5deg castor blocks and spike trimming on front tyres. this was my set-up at end of first astro meeting: Mid Config, saddles as kit layout. Front 37.5wt Losi oil, 55 pistons, blue spring, no limiters (need to try 56 piston with this oil and/or a black spring) 2-outside shock position 5 deg castor blocks camber link hole 2, -1deg, +1mm spacer on castor block ballstud Schumacher Blue minispike, 2 rows off each side or Fastrax kourse Kings with 2 rows cut and dremelled smooth (both with fastrax yellow compound moulded inserts) Rear 32.5wt Losi oil, 55 pistons, yellow spring, no limiters (want to try pink spring) 2-inside shock position 2-B camber link, +1mm under both ballstuds -2deg camber Schumacher Yellow minispike (full) or Fastrax kourse Kings (full) both with Fastrax yellow moulded inserts. Mid wheelbase 2 deg antisquat 80g brass under lipos (stopped the inside wheel lifting and jumped flatter) LRP 8.5T X20 22/78 gearing (Losi Kevlar Spur) Speed Passion GT2 LPF, Boost #6 will be trying 2mm castor shim at front and 25 deg kit-up from 22 buggy on next testing session. Will also be trying radius on piston top and bottom edges as team run on 22 buggy. |

Sorry I should have put some more information
Running on dust/dirt track with full yellow Minispikes Built stock Mid Config other than 1 degree antisquat, 3.5 degree toe plate, full droop, pistons stock but edges have been rounded. SP6.5t, LRP SXX no boost or timing Long Lipo all the way forward Savox 1256tg servo Car was nice to drive and very predictable considering I haven't driven 2WD for a long while, I initially was going to run heavier oils as 27.5 seemed very light for a truck however to shocks seem to work very well, I will have a play around with springs next time but that will be on Astro so I expect setup to change considerably anyway.

There is the problem with turn in!
A mid car is always going to be a poor comprimise on dirt, slippy tracks or in wet conditions, especially running a 6.5t motor, must be quite a handful! 27.5wt will be far too soft on an astro track, the kit springs are a bit soft which is why i will try going up a rate all round (black front and pink rear) You will find you have a lot of steering with the lipo forward, so will probably be best to move it back, would recommend using saddles to keep the weight further back too. 5deg castor blocks were the biggest improvement in calming the truck down on turn in. the set-up i've posted was on a very hot day with high grip astro, track was tight and technical with a short straight (20m ish) and long but small air jumps, hence low ride height. Keep us posted on anything you try, the quicker we learn the truck's secrets the better! |
