Hi all

Just getting into the rc hobby, I have a tl01 touring car standard set up and looking for somewhere to race (eventually) And to come gather info etc to upgrade my car

Also there are 3 friends buying the same style car so they will be looking for a club soon.

Does anyone still race these cars ?
Is there anywhere to get cheap ish spares / parts ? As I've been to 3 rc shops and none offer much choice
Thanks

No one is running touring cars at Mansfield at the moment. Mainly 2wd buggies. This might change in the future.

You could always enter your TL-01 cars in the Tamiya silver-can class at Broxtowe Model Car Club in Eastwood, Friday evenings. We race a wide range of Tamiya chassis touring cars, TT-01, TA-03, FF-02, FF-03 etc.

Don't assume the cars are slow and boring with the kit motors, two of us out qualified all the modified class!

As far as spares go, ebay is your best bet.

Went to Eastwood Friday and it had rained so no one was on the Tarmac

I'm looking for as much info as I can get as to be honest I don't know where to start lol my car is built and runs but that's it - I want to start modding it now

When you say 'modding it' what do you mean? Looks, durability or performance?

If its 'look' then light kits, bling wheels etc. then fine.

If its durability or performance you are after I would suggest some track time first. See what breaks on the car when standard. The last thing you need as a beginner is speed, you will find you need those parts sooner than you think! Besides, we only allow kit standard silvercan motors and that is fast enough. We aren't bashers doing high speed runs, tyres and gearing is what we play with to improve lap times.

Your TL-01 will need a full bearing kit as a minimum. Then, to ensure the car is competitive, the tamiya speed tuned gear set part no. 53342 and a 21t pinion (0.6 mod). Maybe change to a 23t pinion when you achieve consistent lap times. Tyres, use the kit ones to start with.
