Best airbrush / compressor deals ?
Anyone got any tips for a new setup ?
I've used my tamiya spray work setup for decades, but it's finally had it, only sprays splurges and thick lines these days ! I've looked on bay and everything airbrush.com, but I have no idea what's good and what's not for sensible money. |

Hi Andy
What sort of budget do you have to work with? What sort of paints do you plan on using? Where will you be spraying and at what times of the day/night? Do you want to use the comp for anything else? Etc. A few questions you need to think about and providing the answers to these will help others give suitable suggestions. Feel free to add me to msn and give me a shout with any future questions you may have. Regards, Jon |

Hi Jon.
Cheers for the reply, and cheers for the liquid mask I got from you this week. First time I've used the stuff properly, it worked a treat Currently I use spray can paint, I just spray a bit into the cup on top of my tamiya spray work ! I'll only use the compressor occasionally to do my own shells in the garage, so noise isn't really an issue. I want something that wil spray a decent fine line / dual action and gravity fed. I'd like the cheapest setup going that's decent really |

No problem buddy, glad to help. glad you got on well with the liquid mask also.
for a brush id recommend something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Iwata-Revoluti...15dc55fde0709b bigger needle/nozzle size so works better with thicker paints and pearls etc but is also capable of achieving more detail stuff also. there are cheaper branded guns on the market but havent really tried them so can't say how good or bad they are. compressor - something like this perhaps, wont be running all the time so will give you some peace and quite for a short time to do your ab'in plus its more or less maintenence free and if you want to do other things like paint your fence (not suggested with an airbrush ) or blow the crap off your rc then its capable of that also. http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/pr...-compressors-2 |

Hi Jon.
Many thanks for the recommendations. Looks expensive, around £200 for the lot. To be honest I was hoping to pay nearer £100, is there anything decent for that kind of money, there are airbrush and airbrush kits on bay that are cheap / all metal and look ok, also much cheaper compressors on everything airbrush.com, are they a waste of money ! |

then give one of the cheaper brushes a go. i wouldnt hold my breath on their quality/longevity but hey, i might be wrong! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Thorite-Diamon...ingSupplies_EH http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/0-5mm-AIRBRUSH...ingSupplies_EH http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Double-Action-...ingSupplies_EH might get some to try actually. might even be able to tune em up and swap some of the parts for better ones..hmm... |

Chaps.
Received my £10 dual action ebay airbrush the other day, Brand new in it's box. It didn't come with a hose, (search ebay for- "Precision Air Brush Kit Dual Tool 0.3mm Nozzle for Nail") Anyway, it's well decent, for me at least. I just connected the hose to my Tamiya Spraywork compressor, and job done ! I quickly did this shell for my new 8th, used cans in places which was a mistake as they don't spray a smooth enough gradient, but the airbrush is fine for me - £10.97 - job done !!! |

Cheers Buddy.
One thing I learnt with the liquid mask is that 2 brushed coats isn't really enough, I managed, but peeling it off so thin was a nightmare ! 3 coats from now on.... |

Airbrush / compressor conundrum
I use an old touch up gun and cheapie Lidl compressor for applying mask fluid. With a little water to thin it, the mask goes on beautifully. It does need at least two or three thick coats though, or it's too thin and stretchy!
For paint I use an Iwata SBS and a near silent 'Shark' compressor from airbrushes.com It's a bit heavy tho for the really fine work. Either that or I've got a bit to learn!!! Here's my latest. Not quite up to John's standard but I'm pretty pleased, with a growing queue at the local club... cheers Julian

Im also after a new compressor as my small one has started to wear out, its not giving consistent pressure any more.
Anybody got any recomendations? I dont mind spending a bit extra as im doing more painting at the moment.
