Default FrSky 2.4 in a Futaba

I was wondering if there would be any advantage in my 3VC converting over from Spektrum Pro to a FrSky system, will I get faster response times?

mine seemed faster, and the tiny little receiver fitted in my SV2 much better. Also my old Spektrum gave me a bit of interference every now and then.

I would highly recommend it!

I did use these little monkies for a short time when I ran a Futaba 3PL...as far as I can remember you can grab them very cheap over on hobbyking.com...bit longer on postage but cheap. They are super small and come with 2 areals!!

Good value and work spot on from my short experience

Receiver is small and light, a bit open and end connect, cheap as well.

Yes they are the ones. You can also buy a plug in module to save fannying about wiring the hack module in but wasn't in stock when I looked. I found the end connections on the receiver no problem at all, in fact it made my install much neater.

To give you a sense of scale for the receiver, the aerial in the picture is less than an inch long.

Thing is, is it a faster response or not, I can't tell by the figures. I fancy getting a 3VCS and making it 2.4GHz, but not much point if I can't get it to run on HRS...

Whats the difference between hrs and ppm? Only asking as I've been looking at both the frsky systems and the 3vcs, and my old 3gr has the option of them but I don't know what they are.

I read before I bought it, but can't put my finger on the article now, that the Frsky system is actually faster than the Futaba "fasst" or whatever it's called, so I just went with that.

All I can say is it's the best £25 i've ever spent and it is quicker than the Spektrum stuff I took out

This is the correct receiver for cars that works with the Futaba FASST system.

http://www.giantcod.co.uk/frsky-tfr4...-p-406589.html

Works fine in my 12th car, which are renowned for being really picky with radio gear due to the precisions required to control the car, the proximity of all the electrics and motor giving rise to plenty of interference opportunities, and the lack of protection if you hit something! I run one aerial along the chassis and one up the mast - not sure why but since the original Futaba FASST receivers have two aerials at 90 deg to each other, I just copied it!

I have no experience of using the FRSky Tx module. DCM, I replaced a Spektrum system with Futaba FASST and it is night and day. With the Futaba system I have absolute control, can run HRS and can at last adjust the car mid-corner and have it respond. (Note that a '12th' corner is over in much less than one second!) I would never use anything other than Futaba or Sanwa 2.4 as they are by far the most popular in 12th. I have always preferred Futaba Txs, so the 3VC was a no-brainer. However, the Spektrum system I had in it didn't work out for me, couldn't shake off the interference.

The safe option here is to get a Futaba 2.4Ghz FASST Tx module and then use the above receiver. That way I can assure you it will all work, and you will be pleased (V.pleased!!) with the results. I cannot vouch for the FRSky Tx module as I have no experience of it. Also note that to run this system with HRS, servos must be digital. HTH

Thats the kind of answer I was looking for. Thanks.... HMMM now does the 3VC have HRS or would I need a 3VCS?

DCM, just to confirm, I do have a 3VCS and it does run HRS. Sorry if the original post mentioning 3VC was confusing.

If it's the 3PM-2.4ghz FASST Version
Then the FrSky TFR4 Receiver works fine
